when you painted your cover, what if at all did you put over the rest of the head while it was being painted? is removal, painting and replacement an easy backyard shed 1-2 day job? i'm so keen to give mine a glossy ford blue with maybe a white base coat. i was wondering whether i'd have to take it to a mechanic/panel shop for this job. your process would be really helpful thanks.

it is a 10 minute job
Label your spark plugs, pull them off and lay them over to one side Undo the bracket for the accel cable/ cruise Remove the breather hose off the PCV valve THen just undo the 4 nuts/bots on the top

so am i to understand that the rest of the engine doesn't need covering, or should i just be safe and put say a towel over it? just thought dust and other things may be something you wouldn't want over the cam/lifters/valves/springs etc. if not then sweet. and is paint from engine enamel spray cans you pick up from autobarn able to handle the heat? i'd expect so as they are rated for the engine block as well, just wondering if the quality is capable, or even if the finish is good from those who've used it. thanks.

Looks good. Far better than the standard black (which is peeling off on mine)

Yeah, it's still got the original black paint. It's basically like when it left the factory, except that the black is peeling from between the ribs.

Yep, that's the problem. I'll probably be doing for a couple of years yet... unless I give it up and get a real job / get kicked out.
