Its been a while but we've all seen that flog with the 1985 Toyota Hiace on club rego - how many crap cars have you seen on your states club rego abusing the system?

Yep saw one of those Nissan Datsun bluebird wagons a few weeks ago. Seemed very odd but then again they fit within the rules and each year that passes more modern cars get into the age bracket.

Don't see the issue or how they're abusing the system. To the uneducated an unrestored old XA 351 Falcon and an unrestored old Landcruiser...no difference? Both look like old ****boxes

I'm more curious as to how they pass the roadworthy examination to get the club rego.
There's a couple of small trucks around my way on club plates, I see towing work trailers, carrying loads which are definitely not their own hobby stuff.

If they fit the criteria I don’t see who we are to judge, I might not find person A’s KB Laser desirable but it’s over 30 and meets their clubs guide lines and may well be their dream car
Like wise my ford might just be an old ford to them My trucks going on H plates when it’s done so if old mate has a taste for historic tippers who am I to judge

I don't know about cars but trucks are a little different as they are not to be used for commercial purposes (Not for Hire) I've seen one with a load of grain pulling out of a field.

Put your Louie on club reg when its done - we're doing a freight review at work, how much for pallets between Melbourne - Adelaide - Sydney - Brisbane and Perth since you're paying like $50 for rego

I think the point that Franco is trying to make is that there are quite a few that he's sees daily, so not properly conforming with the rules.
Which in NSW is ........... Historic vehicles can be used:

That's what I don't like about it, I see mates rates being applied here and if your not in the "click" off to full RWC you go.

Tbh in Victoria all vic pol or vicroads need to do is pull over a few and check their log books.. If it's being driven regularly and not filled in for the 45 or 90 day limit is a fine to the owner (based on the cost of full rego) and being booted off the system, in the 3 or so years I've had cars on club reg I have never been pulled over to be checked even though there's been plenty of Toggies behind me,
The vs will be put on club as soon as I can, until then I'll use it as a daily

As long as people doing the right thing it shouldn't matter what kind of car it is.
They're just trying to save money by not paying registration (read tax) no different to people negative gearing or minimising paying they're dues in other ways.

I am the Plate registrar of a club in NSW.
Before allowing a member to put a vehicle on club plates they must have been a member for at least six months, live no more than 50 Km away, and have attended at least one meeting and one club event. I personally inspect every new vehicle to check that they conform with RMS regulations. They then must have the Vehicle inspected at an authorised safety inspection station. The only exception to that is for tractors, we allow the owners to self inspect. If members with club registration do not turn up to at least one club event and one meeting a year we will not renew their rego. A few simple rules like this puts most of the non genuine off I don't see anything wrong with having an old commercial vehicle, there all getting very rare now, try and find an XK falcon van in any condition, their rare as R H S

Plenty of people in NSW rorting historic rego with cars that should be on D plates. Every second modified car though knows a bloke who can inspect a car without seeing it, and if they don't one of their mates does. So the clubs are only being held to account by themselves.

Yeah not that I'm defending that club (and I'm not a member of it) but some clubs are impossible to deal with,
About 5 years ago I picked up a 1 owner xd falcon that was a 4 speed 4.1. sure she was a little average to the eye back then (more of a patena look) but she was straight, original and complete, the xd xe clubs wanted nothing to do with me at all as a) it was not fully restored and b) it was not a 8 or a ESP, the next club that did take me eventually still wanted a RWC even though it was not required I was happy to oblige, but once I turned up at meetings with it i was shunned and looked down on as "it's only a xd" plus being a shift worker made it difficult to attend the regular meeting requirements so after 12 Months I found a club that was more open to all types of vehicles and was more liberal with attendances with club meets and events, since joining that club I've been able to buy and sell a number of older cars that I enjoy. I'm sure some looked at my rough HX and would think it was a piece of crap, but I enjoyed driving it. Although some disagree with that type of club, for some it just allows them to enjoy their pride n joy, yes there are those who Rort, human nature is that someone somewhere will always seek out advantages,

No your not allowed for sale or reward, but I can put my truck on club rego and cart , but drag car around as long but the load capacity is now 2/3 what it would be if I had full rego as a way to discourage using them for loads

Nearly made me want to give up cars Now this is the opening line on our clubs constitution So what makes a Pariahs member? Buggered if we know BUT as The general concensis is, we want to get too anal on what makes a proper car/club member, otherwise we turn into self righteous pricks we want to avoid. And that suits me fine Some of our clubs cars

Club regos seem like a lot of hard work to me, joining a club, becoming a contributing member, dealing with the anoraks and wasting days at shows or cruises.
Or if I'm hard up I could spend a day doing some o/t at work, pay a full rego and drive my cars whenever I like. Sometimes its harder work avoiding doing (or paying) for something

The clubs have probably bought this on themselves with the people abandoning them in droves with their attitudes towards attending meetings and events - hence why these rorting ones have popped up.
