Unhappy R.I.P The Ghia

Just spoke to the assessor again... time to say goodbye to the ghia. With all the paperwork crap and easter in b/w I won't get the release from RACV till late next week.

Time to start looking for a new beast, don't hate me but I have been looking at imports as well :P

So it's off to the RACV holding yards for my baby :(

Incidently anyone want a ELGT wheel, 2030 cam, AU3 rear bumper, AU3 wing???

So here's to the ghia : it served me well.

Awww baby I'm sorry. :(
From the brief amount of time I spent with her, I thought she was a beautiful car.
If it wasn't for her, we would never have met.

You have plenty of great memories from your time together.

Wish I could be there for you right now. :

Love you bubby.

Geez, no good. Goodluck with your next ride. On a side note, if you did get the interior... I'd be interested.

Just about every bit of the car has someone interested but I don't get first go at the car so I might just let my various covers take their course and move on. Everything except the GT wheel was listed on insurance.

I'll find out where it will be auctioned though and let you all know.

Yeah yeah so I am looking at Soarers and Skylines etc. An XR8 is not off the cards yet. My only real problem is I am basically uninsurable _ I have gap cover and cover for the excess also the onroads and 5k worth of insurance for my next car so that will make it easier. I can thank Vigil Finanace for such comprehensive cover, Murrey is the man!

The bits will be up for sale shortly at very good prices :

Very sorry to hear about the car. Hope that you can find another that hits the spot with you like this one did.

Will an import cost you a squillion extra bucks for insurance? Would it be better for your rating in the longer term to buy another Aussie built car?

Soarers are good, no wait, soarers are GREAT

if you can stretch, get the lexus SC400 instead of teh toyota soarer....
you get heaps more extra goodies.. indash screen for one - unfortunatley you'd have to replace the satnav as its expensive (as in more expensive than replacing the nav unit) to get the factory satnav upgraded to accept aussie maps..

It's not a stretch for an SC400 at all, the insurance for either is though! At least I actually get offered a plicy unlike with the skyline/silvia/supra/300ZX etc etc

I was surprised at the offer on an XT though, even the V8 model :Up_to_som

Had a lengthy discussion with JustCar and I am actually pretty happy with a number of their quotes on various cars that everyone else just says 'no thanks'. In fact compared to the quotes by others they are awesome. Although when I asked about a ZC 500 found out they don't insure 30+y/o cars for full comp :P

Don't worry Casper I have been looking at classic Fords and newer ones as well, so you may not have to fire bomb my new car after all...

It was such a great car and proved all those petrol doom sayers so wrong when it got better economy than the VR-X going up to Canberra/Sydney. I will miss it greatly. Such good times, like rolling up next to a Mirage with a fart pipe, smiling, then floor it with the headers split at the welds. The look on their face, priceless, my hearing will also be missed :P

Yeah it's funny, I'm looking at these classic beasts and then these plastic fantastic imports at the same time... I'm a disturbed individual.

Maybe I just need to get both...?
