Hey guys my 91 kh laser 1.6 carb had a badly leaky valve cover gasket so i replaced with a new one, but now after doing and thinking about it there are little rased bits (tabs i guess) looking at the gasket laying flat on something 3 quarter way down the edge all the way around the gasket. wasnt sure weather to put the tabs in the valve cover or on the bottom. i put them in the valve cover and have a feeling i did it upside down. can anyone enlighten me on with way round is the right way.

Also can the AC / PS belt be put on backwards i had cherping sound from either of the belts so i replaced both now the ac / ps belt seems missaligned tighter on one side of the belt than the other and still cherping sound. what could cause this miss alignment? could the cherping sound be my speedo cable cos it does sound like its right behind the dash?

Chirping sound on a KF/KH laser can be the plate that sits behind the harmonic balancer pulley and the timing belt. When they wear they make a noise like a loose belt (hard to explain).
As for the rocker cover gasket, the little raised bit goes on the head side to help seal when torqued down... |
