aux audio video input.

Hey guys,

I have just recently purchased a I-pod video, and i wish to connect it to my premium sound, BA xr8. How can i connect it to the stereo so i can watch the movies off the I-pod all it requires is a rca video input and also the sound input to i can listen to music as well? is there a package avalible from ASL? or is this the dvd install minus the dvd player??

it can be done mate - i'm sure asl will get back to you, but i was going to do the same thing with my BF for a while. The video side of things requires some re-wiring and adapters behind the ICC. I ended up mounting the ipod next to the steering wheel, so you could see the screen, and wiring in an audio booster cable for the sound. Was a far cheaper option, but not as functional.

I would say yes. That is what I bought from ASL and it'll play anything on the screen that I plug into it via a video RCA cable :-)

I'm sure Fadi or colleague will confirm soon. They are great to deal with.

sounds good i really want a set of RCA's plug in in the centre console so i can plug in and leave it play music, and movies when stationry of course.

This is something I have been toying with for a while. I can’t see why you can’t connect an ipod to the screen through the RCA cables. When you play a video from the ipod you can set it to PAL or NTSC and normal or widescreen. In theory widescreen NTSC should be perfect for the ICC screen.

But what I want to do is connect this up with the RCA but be able to play the music through it and get the video feed from the ipod screen displayed on the ICC. But ipods don’t output this video feed ??? Why can’t it display the cover artwork, track/album/artist details and the progress bar? It would be sweet if it could. I have emailed Apple about this and hopefully it can be done.

The other questions to be asked are: how does it sound when played through the RCA cables? With the Ford AUX kit it is amplified. Is it possible to amplify the RCA feed? Do you need to? What screen is displayed on the ICC when it is playing just the audio?

Fadi have you played around with any of this?

The normal Ford screen but rather than AM/FM1/FM2/CD it says Aux-In

sounds good to me, as long as i can see the movies and hear the music its all good, but yeah it would be nice if the i pod had the out put when in audio mode.

as long u have a ntsc video output(composite RCA) you can play your Ipod through The ICC screen.
