Default 2008 F650

We've seen some outrageous F-650-based vehicles like this before (the DeBerti for one), but for some reason, the Alton F-650 XUV jumped out at us at the Chicago Auto Show. Perhaps we were already focused on Ford's Work Solutions trucks in the vicinity, but this insane beast just put our DSLRs on autopilot. The F-650-based XUV was built by Alton Manufacturing and carries a GVWR of 25,999 lbs. That makes the 660 ft-lbs of torque generated by its 7.2L Caterpillar engine seem paltry. Besides the big-rig-meets-Excursion bodywork, your nearly $200,000 expenditure for this XUV will get you hardwood floors, custom captains chairs, a 42-speaker sound system, two drop-down 16-inch TVs plus a 42-inch plasma, four computer workstations, plus a train horn. Oh, you'll also get bragging rights for the biggest, baddest truck in 99% of the world's neighborhoods.

Front with scoop looks similar to the Dodge truck with the V10 Viper motor..

Why do they bother spending money on designing rubbish like this?

Ford, GM, Chrysler need to get with the program and build vehicles that Joe Public wants to drive!

Love the interior
Chrome grille/front bar would be menacing
Hate the massive gap above the rear wheels...

Needs a set of 40s..... You could tow your house, boat and cars around the world with that thing... Ford is getting closer to their main goal.... Producing a motor vehicle that uses 1litre per 1kilometre...

That is the ugliest steering wheel this side of a VN/VP Commondore!! Not a fan of the whole dash area, looks very dated.

From the looks of the 10 stud wheels, engine/ gearbox and some of the switches inside it's based on a small (US) Ford prime mover, so yeah, an MR should do it.

I totally agree, looks like they ripped the switches out of a 80's model car and covered the rest in pretty blue stuff thats so damn bright it'll ensure your wide awake before you set off on your trip to the shops!

Also.. "Allison 3000 EVS, CR 5-Speed, shift key pad, PTO provision" sounds like some sort of tactical defense against aliens, not a gear gearbox! Anyone care to explain wtf that all means?

PTO = Power Take Off
Allison - Make of Box
CR 5 Speed - has 5 gears?
Shift Key Pad - As it says

Allison 3000 etc = 5 speed Allison (truck) overdrive auto box. IE:it came from a Greyhound bus.

PTO provision = there is a plate on the side of the box where you can bolt on a power take off. Probably to work the lighting generator on those outback fishing trips.

Shift key pad = Auto shift buttons for lazy seppos instead of the 'T' bar.

Apologies for mumbling about Ford building this beast... my mistake... I thought Ford built F trucks......

So while I am mumbling, will you please elaborate on why Caterpillar engines are so on the nose with you.

Ford do build 'F' trucks but this one was an aftermarket job.
As for Cats, just an engine I've never really liked to drive in a truck
