Does anybody own a pair off oakley half jaket XLJ and know how to remove the lenses, do they just snap out, I'm going to replace the ones in mine with perscription lenses I have ordered but I have an idea the shop will charge me an extra $100 just to fit them, so If this is the case I want to do it myself as it is a 2 sec job????,

A reputable optical shop would not charge you $100 to fit a lense. In fact - it would surprise me if it wasn't free.
But I'm curious, how did you order prescription lenses for your sunnies without giving them your frames? And did they tell you that prescription lenses should not be fitted to a frame that is too curved due to the warping of your view through them?

It is through an optical specialist's in town, they said they didn't need the frame's, they used to but not anymore, all I did was take my oakley's into them with my recent prescription and asked for it to be done, all ok they said, they are being made by oakley themselves in the USA, and I asked for polarized aswell.

heh heh - sitting on them to remove the lenses is fine... unless they're being worn at the time.

Ring the opto and ask them how much they are going to charge to fit. Or ring the O shop and ask them how they fit in or out.I have a pair of Oakley with a removable blade style lense and they just snap out. I was scared of breaking them but all was good. I didnt think I should have putting that much pressure on them but when I pushed just that little bit harder they just snapped in. If your opto sells Oakley they should know how and seeing asthey are organising your script then they should fit them.

Drop by your local OPSM or Sunglass Hut (same company) and they'll do it for free, just be friendly about it because they don't have to do it, and nothing sucks more than someone who wants something for free. Or just go in (Sunglass Hut only) and ask to take a look at the XLJ Oakley box/case. Inside there is a tiny leaflet that explains how to change the lens. Basically thumb/index finger with a microfibre cloth between digits and lens, tug with gentle but firm pressure in the right dirrection and Bob's your uncle. If you want to be real cheeky, pretend like you're interested in an XLJ instore and ask to be shown how to change the lens with the spares in store. If an employee dosn't know, goto another SGH as some emloyees are real dimwits. |

We get it done for our guys that need prescription safety glasses through OPSM and they don't charge anything to fit them. They can do most well know brands sunnies and quite a few safety glasses. They have template lenses so they don't get them from the manufacturers though. That bits sounds very odd. Usually costs between $150 and $300 for polarised medium impact leanses depending on the style.

i went to opsm and got oakley normal glasses and got sunglasses lenses put in them.
they took 3 months longer than my glasses ordered at the same time took. got them finally and they came and were normal glasses, sent them back and they came back with just tinted lenses and not the la dee daa lenses i ordered. i gave up just took them told them how i felt about there customer service and will not go back there.
