Default 'Whooshing' noise from cat

I've noticed a 'whooshing' sound that appears to come from the cat when I accelerate. Is that normal? It is a magnaflow cat. I just had headers fitted so there shouldn't be any leaks, plus it did it before but I really didn't take any notice.

Are there any vacuum hoses on the drivers side that may have come loose that would make the sound I'm describing under throttle?

Cheers.

Default 'Whooshing' noise under acceleration

My '00 AU Ghia which has extractors and a 3 inch system makes a similar noise when I initially apply more than gentle pedal though I haven't yet been able to pinpoint the source except that it seems to come from under the front of the car. I have checked under bonnet plumbing. Any clues greatly appreciated. Ray.

Welcome to the forum!

Hope you both work out what the noise is. Probably more noise (less restriction) from your freer flowing exhaust.

ok... well apparently its my 'idle bearings' i was told at the exhaust place. we got under the car on the hoist with it on and i can 100% say that its not the exhaust making the noise, they thougt it might be the fuel pump or the bearings but after they heard the noise coming frm under the bonnet they seem to be sure its the idle bearings
