Default Good places to pick up a project

HEy guys so im looking at picking up a project car.

At the moment im torn between a VN commodore that i plan on turning slowly into a lotus carlton or an old fairlane/ galaxie.

Having searched carsales etc ive noticed a lack of suitable cars.

Just wondering if any of you guys know any good places or websites to pic up a project

A VN into a Lotus Carlton?? Interesting idea- what engine were you planning? twin turbo 3.8? Lotus Carlton is still one of my favourite cars.......still goes like a shower of sh*te!
I gather from you username that you might be a weedgie??

Much as I love the Carlton, get an old Ford in Australia- they are pretty good here!

Brian, here in Adelaide you should be able to find a suitable VN in varying states of thrashed, for varying dollars. A galaxie or Fairlane might be a touch harder to find, and most certainly more costly!

Game. Reinvented.

1996 BMW 740iL V8. TV, phone, leather, sunroof, satnav, all as standard. Now with 19" TSW Brooklands, 2 1/2" stainless steel exhaust, plus more coming soon.

I considered the Twin turbo 3.8 but to be honest ill probably put some aussie into it and go for a V8.

And yes I'm a weedgie. lol

You might struggle with the Lotus Carlton-a-like, as the VN is more of a UK Senator with a wide body stretch. The inline 6 in the Lotus is also a different beast to the Buick V6 altogether...

I'd go the Ford and go V8 !

Cheers.

Its essentially the same car. (near identical interior), having been in both extensively.

The senator is longer than the Carlton and VN.

In terms of feasibility I don't think the emulating the body will be the issue.

Cost of fabrication will be the issue.

i don't plan on copying the engine exactly merely a very rough outline EG, Twin turbo six, who cares what its displacement is.

Thoughts that run through my head in terms of engines are, LS1, LS2, LS9. BF Phoon/Xr6t motor and lastly Carb it and go for a Tunnel rammed 355.
