THE wheels have fallen off the Bligh Government.
Cheeky thieves have stripped Premier Anna Bligh's limousine of all four of its wheels. Ms Bligh's chauffeur walked outside his Brisbane home early one morning last month to pick the Premier up for a trip to flood-ravaged Grantham only to discover all four wheels on her luxury Holden had been pinched while he slept. A complaint was made to Queensland Police about the early morning raid on the state's "first car" but it is unknown whether the thieves knew the vehicle belonged to Ms Bligh. An insurance claim also has been lodged for the wheels, which were valued at almost $3000. Another vehicle at the premises was also broken into around the same time. A spokeswoman for the Premier yesterday confirmed the burglary. "On the evening of April 29 the Premier's vehicle was parked in the yard of her driver's house," she said. "At approximately 2am the wheels were stolen." With a limo and no wheels, the Premier was forced to take an alternative vehicle to Grantham. In 2006, then education Minister Rod Welford had his ministerial limo stolen from his carport after he left it unlocked and with the keys inside a storage pocket. Sorry..no pics...but why no wheel nut locks?????????

On Ebay probably, For Sale 4*18" Statesman Wheels perfect condition.
Either that or they are on the front axles of two VN Commodores cutting skids in Logan.

Yeh she should have had a QLD Government security guard watching it.
Preferably one that is not on Interpol's most wanted list though. http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news...514-1en1e.html From the people who brought you Dr. Jayant Patel...... |

As for as an 'intelligence officer' stealing handbags? Yeah right. Sounds like more media beat up. But back to topic - 3k worth of wheels and no lock nuts? Seems a little careless...

Interesting, thought Anna was being driven around in a Prius, perhaps only when she turns up in front of the cameras.

There is a diference between a limo and a stretched limo. By definition under QLD department of Transport a limousine is.

It's a chauffeur driven car, not a limo IMO.
And a 6L gas guzzling weapon of environmental armageddon if I'm not mistaken. |

i agree...it's actually our car they were stolen from.
I also have a big problem with politicians who tell us we need to cut back, have a carbon tax, and penalise you with massive rego costs if you drive anything not powered by pixie dust, driving around in a six liter V8. Put your money where your mouth is and drive a Hybrid Camry...they're made here aren't they? |

Lock nuts dont stop people from stealing wheels, their actually very easy to get off. 3K is probably because genuine Holden/Ford parts are ridiculous prices, and thats probably also replacing them with the factory potenzas.
