My sources today told me that Ford are working on a replacement Diff as they are not happy with the slop in the current system.
these same sources also say that some customers will be getting these as a replacement for their current diff, mainly BA Customers. What they can't tell me, is when this will happen. True or not? I really don't know.

my cousin is waiting for a new diff from ford for his XR8 (really bad clunking) and they have told him to hold off at the moment...
maybe this is due to the diff development??? or maybe they just want him to wait till his warranty out :hihi: i dont know either, but it sure needs addressing!

*Ford Service Manager voice*
What are you guys on about?? There's no "Diff clunk" issues as you have said, never was or has a been a problem. It's within spec and you just have to revise your driving style... *Off Ford Serive Manager voice* ....... Let's just hope it's true.

i've got an auto ba xr6, and i'm getting the same problems with it (clunking in the diff when you either drop down a gear, or accelerate after coasting a bit) as though there's some slop in it.
i drive about 80% of the time in the sequential mode so it's probably made it abit worse than what just driving with it in D will do to it i asked to have it looked at a few weeks ago when my car was serviced (sunford) and they said they coudlnt find any problems with it, but they loosened & tightened my rear suspension because they thought that would fix the clunking noise (fkn morons, if you cant find the problem in the first place, why go changing shit!) to add to the woes, they've done something to the rear end, i think the toein, and now the car feels really floaty on power out of corners :( they also failed to find the warp in the windscreen which we pointed out, and failed to fix the squeaky brakes, and the grinding handbrake, the only good thing i can mention however, is that those of you with dunlop sp3000a tyres, check your sidewalls, i got 4 free tyres cause my sidewalls were cracked, apparently a defect, which i was stoked with cause the old ones had 40,000kms on them! |

Teh Ideal diff would be what the americans call the 8.8 (its under mustangs and Explorers)... 95% of the strength of a 9", lighter and more efficient than the 9" too... |

If they were to alter the diff, why not make the change with the Mark2 ? I mean,
this could not have been a recent thing, noticing faults in the quality...
