Sigma was the Family name for the all alloy 4 banger engines ford bought out in the mid 90's, and Duratec is the new family name replaced Sigman a while back.

They were originallly developed BY Ford in conjunction with Yamaha in the mid 90's. at this stage they are pretty different to what they were originally anyways, so i'd give most of the credit to ford and Mazda for the current engines state of tune. Thats right, the duratec 1.6 and the MZR 4 in the mazda 2 are closely related..

Zetec and Duratec are just marketing names, they're not technologies like VTEC.

If you have a WP you need to take apart the dash and then unscrew the the radio if you have a WQ you need to get unlock keys and use them to take out the radio. WP has the flat lights while WQ have the honda Jazz type lights.

hey don't tave Pre-outs so you need to use a line-converter and slice the speaker outputs.

btw... Our Cougar's motor, "unshamelessly taken from wiki", The 2.5 L and 3.0 L V6 Duratecs are evolutions of the same design, first used in the 1994 Ford Mondeo. It is a modern aluminum DOHC V6 with a 60° bank angle. The primary engineering input came from Porsche, who were developing a similar V6 before selling the engineering to Ford, and Cosworth, who helped with cylinder head manufacturing.

Have a read about the Duratec variants, it's quite a good read.

Nope, the Duratec 1.6l in the Fiesta is an all alloy Ford/Yamaha/Mazda engine with belt driven cams, used by Mazda under the MZI designation, available in the UK Fiestas from 1.25 to 1.6 litres. (was 1.7 litres in the Puma)

The Duratec 2.0 l engine in the Focus and the new XR4 is an all alloy Ford/Mazda engine with chain driven cams, used by Mazda under the MZR designation. Available in the UK Fords from 1.8 to 2.0 litres (2.3 l in the new mondeo) and in Mazdas from 1.35 to 2.3 litres.

Duratec is simply a name to make all the engines sound Durable and high Tech

The Duratec is a range of four, six and twelve-cylinder gasoline engines used in Ford cars.

Originally there was a 2.5 L V6 introduced with the Mondeo. When the 2000 Mondeo was introduced, the 1.8 L and 2.0 L engines became Duratecs too.

Now there are engines of all sizes called Duratec. In North America, Ford uses the Duratec name on all its dual overhead cam 4 and 6 cylinder engines. In Europe, all Ford gasoline engines are called Duratec.
