Same deal, doesn't work for me either - only does if i favorite a car and then i can see its price in my favorites.

But all the listings are all 'enquire for price'

This is going to cause a shitload of time wasters sending messages/texts/phone calls to sellers I reckon.

Never been a member to log in, but I can see car prices, here is one example of having a look at car sales couple minutes ago.

Stop being a bot then. Anyhows, i used to work in the carsales office in alexandria. Great place. So it was where they do things like if you pay the $9 they do the descriptions. Like for your 2009 L300 where it says powerful 2.4L backed by a smooth 5 speed and has ice cold air con.

Same here, cannot see prices unless I drop my VPN connection.

They also seem to be tracking if a user is blocking some of their tracking cookies via a DNS sinkhole. (Noting that some organisations are using upstream DNS protection.)

Options are to keep hopping between exit nodes, or to set up a sandboxed web browser just for looking at Carsales.

Just a wild guess ... but I suspect Carsales are doing this as a combined antifraud measure and to better track who is looking at what on their web site. The tracking stuff being trained at the typical buyer these days provides good indicators as to their net wealth, willingness to buy, etc, etc. Truly frightening stuff.

Carsales has been cracking down on IPs recently. Neighbour of mine had a side hustle buying up beaten up cars, fixing them, then selling it. Carsales recently banned him saying he was acting like a dealer but not having a dealership account. He tried to create a new account under his wife's name, and they banned her immediately

Obviously, if you use incognito or VPN to hide your details, it considers you suspicious.

I would dare say tracking cookies is used for more for advertising than anything else, notice the websites you visit, then see what advertising that comes up with your new browse searches etc; this where the money is made.

It's an annoying issue which occurs for me when viewing saved searches. and must be due to something they've recently done with re-jigging the site.

The workaround I've found is to edit the search, maybe tick on something obvious like "sedan" as the body type, or sometimes even just confirming a single criteria that's already selected.

This almost always makes the prices show again.

Agreed. I went to sell a car on Carsales the other day: ranged from $245 to $570 to advertise - WOW! Went straight over to FB, advertsied for free and car was sold. Re the prices not showing, I get that too. I've just stopped looking at Carsales for now, they'll soon change, just like Photobucket (Photofail).

I found with trucks marketplace and facebook groups are absolutely king - I reckon its to do with the average age of the sellers

I’m waiting for Bunnings and realestatedotcomdotau to follow this intellectual wizardry of CarSales and start blocking or impeding browsing users. Maybe Apple, too - treat people as bots and make them log in to read about new products or check prices.
