I wonder how much of that paint was done back then vs more recently.
The floor inside has a nice paint job. |

Those tags look like they been removed and replaced to me.
Not saying it's not the real deal, I'm sure it is, but... Still a very nice car, but rather have a GT of any year.

The tags are fairly nice and clean as if they might have been pulled off and put back on but the paint or the body is not perfect around them. It says it has ICAARS verification for what that is worth.

Why does a car with only 2,000 km on the clock have non-original brake m/cyl, ignition leads, fuel line etc. etc.
As already mentioned, why were the plates removed ? Dr Terry |

That said, the car gives off the vibe of having been painted and played with much more recently though, which is why I said what I said about the paint, and I also think it has been painted with the tags off, then the tags refitted. I dont have a dog in the fight and not fussed, im used to people being crazy about toranas now, though i never cared for them. 500k is a lot of money for an orange Sunbird with bolt on flares, but someone out there just might pay it. |

It did say it was set up to race, but never actually did.
I'd say those 2,000km were probably test kays. Still, a nice straight clean car, except for all the racing kit, the first thing to go if I was lucky enough to be able to buy it. I guess it's ready to race in the historical races at the Australian Muscle Car tours.

Does Lloyd's always stream their car auctions live online? I was watching one last night though today's isn't available on the website that I can see.
Some very nice Holdens indeed today, with that W427 coming up... EDIT - accessible on Facebook. Cheers. |

I thought the Cortina's were pretty affordable at 10k for the TE and 7.5k, TF.

Once bidding is closed the winning bid only stays up for a short time, I got notified that the bidding on the Torana was about to finish thats how I managed to grab a screen shot, I can't see the winning bids now.....

I was interested to see how the HSVs went and the TBird. Guess we won't know unless published elsewhere $360k for the Torana is still a **** load of money even it fell well short.

The W427 got passed in at $150k ish... surprising after recent results, I think a couple went for over $300k with less kms than this one.
The VN SS Group A got $300k I think. The regular HSVs didn't go for stupid prices. What people are asking for on CarSales seems inflated to me, FPV included. |

Just my 2c worth
Having a good look at the Torana, its not a original 2000k car as first stated, I see that the description has changed from when it first went up now, I used the magnifying glass in the pictures and you can see that there are quite a lot of things that dont make sense, the tags are 1, the orange engine bay as LH Toranas were all black from factory, late LX were body colour, bonnet hinges were zinc plated, the car has been resprayed, not bad job but not real good, you can see runs on top of the beaver panel and there are other imperfections, for what they think its worth it needs to be better. I think from what these car sell for in the same condition $360,000 was good money and they should have taken it, Lloyds have used their usual hype to get people interested and the people who have the $$ can see its not what Lloyds make it out to be, and if your shelling out $500,000+ for a original car you would hope it would be original in condition as well. |
