Hi Everyone,
As I'm relatively new to drag racing, how often should you change oil and fuel. I once heard that you should change it every race meeting. If I have 3 or 4 runs at a meeting then do say 150 ks and then go to the next meeting, should I be changing the oil and fuel or should it be ok to run the same oil. As to the fuel, how long can I leave it in the tank before it would affect the performance of the car. Cheers |

maintenance is normally dependent on the power output and rpm used etc, some classes with high revving engines will be checking valve spring pressure and clearances between actual races while some class's require very little, fresh oil is always a great idea

just check all oils before each meet and replace if needed. there is no rule of thumb every single combo is different and they all cop different types of abuse.
for instance we make 1200hp DOHC TT V8, rev over 8000rpm and change oils when needed, usually 3-5 meetings. apart from that absolutely no maintenance in between apart from usual fuel n water the old 500hp 302W NA combo was pretty much the same, every few meetings, it was raced fortnightly revved to 8700rpm and rockers were checked once every so often pump fuel you don't really want to let it sit for 3 months or more. race fuels, try under a year. |

ur using a decent oil, don't stress too much. drag racing is not rocket science, if you check and stay on top of things before/after each meet all will be good. just go out and have some funs
