Default Clicking Noise - WTF?

Gday Guys,

Think I might have my first Focii isue -
Over the past couple of weeks I have started hearing a sort of clicking noise when I back off the accelerator. It sounds like its coming from the front passenger side wheel.
Its now happening every time I lift my foot off the gas.

Any ideas or should I just take her to get looked at?

THX in advance

Chris

Rear engine mount

I had the same problem for 4 years - back then I reported the dead engine mount to Ford at 45,000kms and they reported it as "normal operation".

Took it to a real mechanic a month ago to get it changed and Ford have a new engine mount design.

A dry/dead one will usually make clicking noise when they're on their extremities ie cornering hard or on full lock.

yeah def not CV joint - had them go before on other cars and completely different.
engine mount could be it - different stress load when its not accelerating.

Im assuming it should be covered under warranty - if not, what was the damage on that?

Thx for the speedy replies

Part was about 150, hard to say if its warranty, because it is a consumable, but it shouldn't have died with a small amount of kms

So it is an engine mount... 1st quote I have so far is $300 for the part and $150 labour. Still cant believe its not under warranty.
Im so super glad I spent the extra money to get the 'premium' warranty rather than the standard one... Just waiting on a call back from Fraud with a price :P

So they call an engine mount a consumable these days? I find that amazing. Surely they are meant to last longer than 4 years?

You would think an engine mount would be covered while still in the warranty period. I mean, it holds the engine ffs. It's not like you have any control over the 'wear'.

Yeah Thats what I explained to them,
Mind you, they cover steering mounts, suspension mounts etc.
The funny thing was she said they aren't covered as they are the sort of thing that doesn't break. My response was exactly why it should be covered....

Have you contacted any other Ford dealer/company other than who you are dealing with about this being a warranty issue?

Sounds like it should be!

I brought the car from a Subaru dealer- so the warranty is through their warranty provider 'inchcape' so cant contact anyone else regarding it - been waiting 3 hours for Ford to call back though with a price...

I see. Does that mean I would be covered seeing mine is from a Ford dealer?

Good luck with getting a reasonable price! Interested to hear what it is. :

I'd bet its the same mount as the Mazda 3, perhaps price one from Mazda.

DZ Ford, there are a few different aftermarket mounts, If the Mazda mount is the same, the Corksport one seems to be a favourite.

Ahh great idea Black LS, I always forget that many Mazda MZR / Ford Duratec products are interchangeable. Let's hope that the same engine mounts are used. Casabonka, will you let us know how you go?

well after $291 for the mount and $44 in labour, its been replaced, but there is still a clicking noise...
Def not as loud or frequent. Before it was on take off/ small bums, now it only seems to be when getting into reverse, or taking off a bit quicker.

Gotta head back next weekend and see whats up, but so frustrating...

is one of the other mounts gone too.
I'm sure the guys who did the work would have checked that out.
we often see that. you see one gone, replace it and you then find another one is also gone, was masked by the worse one.

Well, after a few months of putting up with the clicking noise after it was diagnosed wrong, Denlo Subaru have come through with the goods - a brand new genuine driveshaft (passenger side) is on its way from Melbourne! Will hopefully have it in by Friday.

All covered by their dealer extended warranty!!!!
