Something has peaked my interest about the ST today and was wondering if and how these are being tuned. Is there a flash tuner or box and with small mods what kind of KWs are being attained. Also as they are advertised at 184kw is that at the fly or wheels? Thanks.

Check out this build thread: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=11396029
The owner is getting solid performance from an Unleashed Custom Tune. Also Steeda have a CAI and custom tune. |

Have the same tune as Phil, unleashed will modify for mods and fuel type, E30 is all the rage and getting good results, even one local I know who pioneered. In the end the latest tune with keep you happy, been running with him since Jan 2013
If you have a week available read through this http://www.focusst.org/forum/focus-s...ed-tuning.html Alternatively take my word and buy it, cheapest bang for buck you can get, trust me

The tuning options are endless seeing as the ST is available in the States.
Cobb, Mountune, fswerks, Unleashed, Collins, Stratified to name a few

the 184kw is at the fly, they make around 155-160kw at the wheels stock.
im also using a tune from unleashed and have nothing but smiles so along with Pajoda I highly recommend. can pick up around 20kw's with just a tune.

The tunes by Unleashed etc arent custom tunes are they so how are they loaded to the car? How would you retune if you added mods? Is this the only way to get a tune or do the usual performance tuners do it also.

Loaded via a handset. There are generally two handsets being used on the ST
Cobb Accessport / MTune SCT The master tuner will take logs from you and email you the map to reload onto your handset and then the car. Same goes if you add mods, the map will be tweaked to suit and emailed. You can get a custom dyne tune in Australia but they will cost 2-3 times more. Personally I like the handset option as these master tuners are mapping hundreds of these cars as opposed to the locals who wouldn't see many

If anyone wants a guide Herrod announced ST support ages ago, no idea what their tune is like, or how many they have done, or even what sort of research and testing they have done, but they quoted 900. Had unleashed shipped with lifetime support and god like response to queries for 440 delivered, exchange rate was better then I will admit.

UK company Dreamscience, renowned tuner for the MKII Focus ST (XR5T) have released their tunes for the ST 250. IMO these guys or MT are the only people id trust with a tune on my ST. If MT dont pull their finger out DS is the go for me.
I had their tunes on my XR5T and not one complaint

Prices include fitting as well as they dont really make it clear in the article. Being fitted to a late 2015 LZ ST. |

I feel bad, ive hounded FoA and MT themselves and now this happens. There isnt a hope in hell im paying what they want for the 275 kit for my ST. The kit isnt available separate either which is a ain as i have front mount and intake aswell (Front mount isnt Mountune) That said a Vic FB page im on there will be group discounts so ill see what it ends up at. RRP isnt worth the 18kw IMO

I'm fairly uninitiated, but for what you get in terms of power outputs the Fiesta kit seems to smash the Focus kit in bang for your buck.
For peeps who have already spent similar money on upgrading their Focus/Fiesta STs how do these kits compare to what you had done? (Cost and power outputs) I'm eyeing that Fiesta upgrade for my chrissy present ;) |

The Fiesta pack doesn't include a intercooler, that would be the reason for the difference in price. Either package is overpriced. I guess they are counting on those who are concerned about any possible warranty issues going another path.

http://www.unleashedtuning.com/progr...lectronics-13/ Difference before and after is very noticeable, lower rev torque is a massive performance boost Been running the tune with about 6 iterations of updates for 3 years, it is settled now, doubt there will be another update unless there is something specific you need.
