Having bought a brand new one not long ago i fell ill ad my 2 cents
Power output didnt change throughout the range 166kw and 320nm These cars are pretty bullet proof detuned aswell it would seem as the I5T can be a very potent motor. Handling is excellant, very fun to drive and ADDICTIVE. Modifying them is also quite easy aswell and its easy to extract some decent power and make the go around corners even better. If you want some more info click the XR5OC link in my sig anything you need to know will be in there, join up any questions you need just ask there is some knowledgable people on there

Also check out www.fordxr5turbo.com.
Either forum will give you the info you need. You can also venture across to www.focusstoc.com I would stay clear of the LS model. LT is the 2nd version while the LV is the last and the pic of the bunch.

The later LS models towards mid 2007 were better than the earlier LS's but yes, going for an LT would be the easiest way to avoid things like the smaller intercooler, manual rear windows etc..

My main gripe was the gearbox. It took me 26,000 k's to finally get ford to agree to replace the gearbox. I had a range of other issues, but the box was it. That said, a lot of people with a late LS like I had have had nothing but a dream run. No major problems to report. Someone has the cop the lemon. It was my turn.

Check to see how smooth she goes into gear. Mine felt notchy and the odd number gears never felt smooth, had to put it in firmly, while the even number gears felt very smooth and just slotted into gear. It would slip out of 6th, then it was doing it in 4th and sometimes out of 5th. No hard acceleration, no quick shifts. I treated the car gently.
