What gets double sided tape off?

I'm having drama's with the bloody side moulds on my car. Since they were left off for so long while the car was painted, they have warped and whenever I stick them on the car they gradually peel off again.

Anyway, I used the good 3M double sided tape on them the first time and now it's stuck to all the doors. I want to get it off without damaging the paint so does anyone have any magic product that will do this?

Prepsol/Prepwash is about the only product that will remove the glue, make sure all the excess tape is off first. It is also great for prepping paint in case you want to re-stick the body moulds back on.

I recently removed my side moulds and did it on a hot day, most of the tape stayed stuck to the car but I was able to peel it off in long strips. Its a slow and tedious process but I don't think there is a faster or easier way. Maybe you could call a panel shop and see what method they use for removal.

I did the same with the chrome strips in the front bumper. When I replaced them, I used my fingernail to peel all the old double sided tape off. It was slow, but I got it all in the end

Hmm might have to stick with the Prepsol then, I've used that before but it's not that great. I was hoping there was some purpose made stuff cause this tape is strong as :(

Acetone should get it off. I've used it on painted surfaces before and it didn't harm it. Eucalyptus oil is pretty good at removing glue as well.

CITRO should weaken it up a bit, goes to goo though so makes a bit of a mess.

the only thing though, its a fresh paint job so i wouldnt be too keen on the acetone on that.....otherwise, yes it works

another vote for eucalyptus oil....i just used that on mine when i changed over the moulds....does a good job

go to a place like all cars in croydon and get your self a rubber wheel attatchment for your drill, we use them at work for double sided tape and pin striped, not sure how expensive they are but they work and look cool when they warm up and start smokin!! lol

just take it easy on the fresh paint tho

if ya molds are bent warped straghten em out with a heat gun befor you try putting them back on

Shellite will definately remove it.
might pay to test a patch of paint in the boot first.

Get a "caramel wheel" from a good auto parts store or auto paint store, stick it in a drill and work at it. Whipe it clean with a wax and grease remover....

as for warped moulds, leave them in the sun for half a day then stick them on your car.

(hint:brake cleaner can be used on both the car and the moulds and doesn't leave resendue like wax and grease remover, that can cause the tape to not adhere properly.)

use a bug and tar remover found at any good auto supplier.
easy.use maybe a plastic spatula 2 scrap it off?
