By the looks of it they tried to run a forum without the required Laminge-Plext-Spoolman-Russellw "wrath of God" extensions.
I am an admin on another (non car) forum and some of the crap that goes on in the background is almost unbelievable.

Yep, need great leadership from the top.

And most defiantly great leadership from senior and respected members without that the moderators become frustrated and abusive and push it onto there members who in tow become angry.

Obviously they didn't have those skills.

I used to run a Gaming server business and keeping the forums on that appropriate was harder then paying the fees and keeping the servers online.

Thumbs up

Maybe im biased but is there any better run forum in Australia than AFF? Im not a member of to many forums but from what ive seen this one rates highly just like channel 7 seems to rate higher than channel 9 as a rule of thumb.

It is good there is moderators on forums, blogs or any site where you can submit a comment with the ability to delete posts because it can become a real free-for-all on those sites if they get popular. Without moderators on sites that receive a large amount of posts a day can fill up with trolling, spamming and all kinds of idiots who are arrogant and write all kinds of offensive thoughts.

I would be interesting to see the list of the most popular Australia based forums, I'd bet this Forum would be up there.

I know a lot of sites when they get over say 10,000 members moderators become more open and just say fug it and don't care.. hence how they die.

I think the only other real site is boostcruising.com and they're WAY to strict..

AFF is on Big Boards which shows you where its rated in realtion to posts and members and all sort of other rating factors (RATED FOR THE WORLD THOUGH NOT AUSTRALIA ONLY - I think)

Ranked 104 "average online users"
Ranked 912 "members"
Ranked 399 "posts last week"
Ranked 92 "page views"

etc etc

I have always found this site the easiest to use? As long as you arent a numpty & constantly grazing looking for an arguement ....... the main arguements or pot stirring has been over things bearing no relationshp to a FORD or car Forum.

Dont know the details of the Hemi forum but can imagine why some would throw there hands in disgust, especially when all the work is done for nics and for the benefit of said numpties!

This is really, really bad news. H6P was a fantastic resource for all things Mopar, and especially Valiant. The depth of knowledge in that place was incredible and, to a large extent, irreplaceable.

I hope they sort it out. My future VK project will be immeasurably harder without those guys.

The filtering's a bit weird here. No **** just a gap in the writing.

Plus, I think the naughty word for urine, biological name for a mans reproductive organ and slang term for excrement aren't so heinous that they should be deleted.

I'd say 99% of members here are above 18, with most members probably being 25-35. We can deal with a bit of slang here and there.

This isn't the type of forum a 14 year old would have any interest in, unless they were a real enthusiast. Even then, they've got pretty much nothing in common with anyone here.

Personally i think the swear filter is a "refreshing" touch..
If people can't articulate themselves enough to convey a message without needing to resort to swearing then maybe they're not up-to the level of sophistication this forum is aspiring to......
The swear filter is also a dunce filter...

I too like the swear filter. However I think "Commodore" and "The VE is a nice car" should be added for a bit more peace and tranquility.
