I downloaded the FGX XR8 & Sprint workshop
manuals of Motorcraft Services. Having a look through it I noticed the Sprint wheels are wider than the XR8 and Gt's. XR8 has 8"front & 9"rear. According to the manual, Sprint has 8.5"front & 9.5" rear. Mario |

It would be easy enough to confirm if one of the Sprint owners reefs the spare out of boot and checks the rim backside to confirm, but I'm pretty sure it's just a typo. Cheers Mick |

8 inch rims on performance cars. Is it 2016 or 2006.. Ford were always behind the times. Shame

19x8 and 19x9
They are essentially GTE wheels painted black with 9 inch rears. This is FOA we're talking about. The parts bin specialists...... 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 are only available in the alternate bizzaro FOA universe of which we have yet to discover the wormhole access. http://www.carsguide.com.au/car-revi...ve-video-40249

Cycle Myth I have found a set of rims I would like to put on the Sprint 6. They aren't staggered though. Do you think it would be ok to put 9" on the front instead of the specked 8" provided the offset is correct? |

I don't know if you would blame me for helping get the best possible wheels to make the Sprint what it is.
If you mean "blame" then I can't take all credit for the Sprint there was a core group of 2 others and then many more who contributed. Georgegb - there are only two rims I'd suggest you fit to the car: 1) The ones that one it 2) The ones on the current XR8 (non sprint) I think its been covered off in other threads on here for more background. |

A 275 /30 is just to much of a squeeze on a 9. The 265/35 was the perfect solution. But with no 9.5 means when you up the power you can't go 285 Oh well I suppose there is always aftermarket and then the opportunity to buy forged wheels. HSV has used forged for 10 years .

The 265s on the Sprints are probably wider than a Dunlop 275 anyway.

I couldn't care less mate as I've had a couple of years of fun with my 9" rears. I don't get precious about anything made in the last 30 years to be honest.

That's right. Because it doesn't matter what you have, there is always something , faster, bigger, better , cheaper.

You see, there are many folk out there that 'are' their car or 'are' their house or 'are' their job. Without these things they would not have a way of validating themselves - of making sure their spot in their world is recognised and appreciated - their status. Yes, this speaks to those with a very low self esteem, those who need physical things, objects, to give themselves a sense of self worth. They place their self worth as reliant on external things (cars for example), not on themselves. It is seen in every strata of society/demographic as human nature is the same to a large extent in each, it is not a function of how much money someone happens to have. As we should all know, past a certain point, happiness and money lose correlation. The old saying hootar "I wish you enough" is applicable here. Long story short it comes back, as usual, to their upbringing and how their self image was nurtured from a very young age. Self image can be changed but it is a very hard process and only sometimes meets with success. We will have negativity with us for a while yet I'm afraid, at least until the aliens land and share some secrets on how to raise kids with some certainty.

To maintain similar clearance to the strut as stock a +25 will be needed. Greater offset than that should be test fitted. You may fit a + 30, really need to check +25 won't work to well on the rear Other forum members maybe more help. I only know to the mm BA BF

I wouldn’t bother coming on this forum if everyone thought the same, I couldn’t think of anything more brain numbing and boring. There is nothing wrong with differing opinions as long as the comments are kept civil. |

While I don't think is would be any good for a forum to sit around holding each others hands singing Kumbyah, I also think a forum can be as lively and interesting without sh**ting on the aspirations, choices and positions of other members. Nobody likes a ****** stirrer who's just being one for the sake of it. From what I gather, before I joined there was this "Hulk" member here who often managed to get even the most patient of you all feather-flapped at times. Negativity even came before brain power when a lot of geniuses here thought I was this hulk thing by another name - remember that!?! Negativity is a curse and it is contagious - don't kid yourself. We all have to be vigilant that we're not in denial about how negative we can be at times, this thread and especially the Sprint thread having devolved into an unfortunately perfect example. There's a LOT of denial here when the subject is raised and hootar did a good job of raising it with his comment. I don't want a boring forum - who would?! I'm just making this apparently new suggestion on this forum that people be respectful and mindful of other's views before going at a subject like a thoughtless bull at a gate.

Swings and roundabouts. This kind of banter has been going on in the forums since time immemorial. Go back and read the T3 v Bseries GT and GT v F6 wars....... You take a dose of concrete and develop a thick skin. You mature and you separate the wheat from the chaff. Although many of us have an almost religious fervour about the cars we own and try to defend the choice when pushed , many of us also realize that it doesnt mean $/^#@ what others think or say. If you are comfortable about your own choices you dont need affirmation from an internetz forum. This place serves as a bit of fun and rough and tumble and can also be a good reality check for some. Its full of &$/^#@ and opinion and can be a fun pitstop during a difficult day at work. Look.for what you need and block the stuff you dont......

My experience tells me everything is fine until **** hits the fan and then your on your own. I'm just not sure I would place my livelihood in the hands of what someone said on a Forum however good his intentions were. Cars are getting more hi tech and complex with every model change. As an owner it's up too you to make sure any modifications from standard are legal. George a while ago you posted of the passion and commitment of Dave and Justin when you met them in Sydney. Well cycle myth has worked along side them. He has had access to all the relevant testing and data etc. For all we know he could have signed off on it. Both he and Justin have made it quite clear of what rims are suitable. It's up to you to decide which one to trust. |
