You can buy them brand new, with brand new tires from Ford for $60 each.

Thats what i did with my Cortina, which as i understand it are the same as your XL.

where abouts did you ring to get the rims from? was it a dealer or ford motor company?
and how do the rims sit in terms of the offset? are they close to the guard?

thanks

Whoa hold on, the PCD is correct but the offset is way out!

I fit my 17 inch Focus rims to my RS2000 during its rebuild for a joke, but the offset is so different that you can't work around it. Focus offset is something like 52.5 or something. Basically, the inside of the Focus rims were contacting the suspension on the RS2000.

I have a full set of Focus 15 inch steel rims with new tires on them, sitting in the garage, as well as the 17s in the photos... and a whole lot more. Not sure why, might need them some day I guess.

If they are only $60 to buy from Ford, that's a bargain. The tires cost more than that from a tyre shop. Not that anyone would be stupid enough to buy more NCTs.

i rang the dealer, well got the mechanic at work to ring. As has been said Escort offset is completely different :( cortina is only 2mm out from memory.

They're the wheels that they put on the focus' when they're being transported, and then if they get optioned up with mags they just chuck em in a heap out the back.

Like has been said, you cant buy 1 new wheel with a new tire for the cost of doing the whole car this way. Certainly comes in handy when you need "testing" tyres...

Ummm, wouldn't the Focus steel rims still have the same offset issues? I know they are a thinner wheel but the 17s had so much trouble, I still think the 15s would too. I can try them on my RS2000 and tell you if they fit or not, tho, when I get time, but won't be till mon / tues next week. Flat out till then :(

Oh yeah, I hadn't planned to get rid of them anyway, might throw them on for a track day or something when I need rubber to kill.

I have some 15" alloys for a Focus which were on mine when I bought it if you're interested in them. Tyres are 85%.

Mate, I am 99% sure they will not fit, the offset difference is so big. If they do, they will barely clear suspension components, and sit really far in the guards. They will be illegal also, according to the RTA's track standards.

But I'll try for you, might get time tomorrow.

If thats directed at me.....

Came off my car the same day I bought it, replaced by 17's. Rubber is from memory Goodyear Eagle NCT's, and has 85% tread left as measured by the tyre place. Rims dont have any marks or gutter rash, and are 15x6".

PM me if youd like to start talking!
