Hi all
I just brought a " Escort Mk2 rs2000" wheel from ebay, or what I throught It doesnt fit!!!!!! it has a smaller taper and spline size, could it be off a mk3 capri?, I dont know either way I now have to chase the seller for a refund or involve ebay disputes which sure will be a waste of time. Not happy

It's probabally off a MK1, there is a slight difference.
Have a looky here, you might even be able to do a swap. http://www.classic-ford.org/forum/to...eering%2Cwheel

Depending on what you paid, you may very well recover your money, you might even make some. They do pop up here and there, but if it's the only one when you list it you would have a good chance

If the steering wheel was advertised as a Mk 2 then you have recourse for a refund with the seller but you are probably better off selling it on as a Mk 1 wheel which usually sell for more.
I've bought a few that have been advertised as Mk 2 but turned out as Mk 1 and vise versa but I'm lucky enough to own both cars so I usually swap it out if it's a better one than mine and sell on the spare. The difference is clear if you look on the spline side. The Mk 2 has a hole for the canceling ring, whereas the Mk 1 has the hole in a recess. Always check this when buying off eBay. If you want to sell the wheel on, give me a call on 0401 881 379 I collect RS spares both for Mk 1 & Mk 2 |
