Default escort mk2 electrical problems ignition

testing we have power to coil distributor but random loss of power statted once the we have insuffisiant loss of power.
the coil leads spark plugs rotor button and spark plug leads are all new but where not getting any spark on the plugs

check your coil then make shore the points are clean

the coils brand new and we checked swapped it with 3 different ones it and we cleaned the point they all work but where losing power some where the manual say to check the ballast resistor but we don't know where it is because it dose not say we had it run after putting on a new head once for 5 seconds then we tryed to starting again and there was know spark from the plugs

so if you get a flat screw driver and with points closed and ignition on try open and close the points and see the points let spark go from tab to tab

we get spark in the points but we slowly lose it when were trying to crank the engine something thats sappost to be controlled by the Ballast Resistor but like i said we don't know where it is

i would run a new wire from ignition and see what happens. their is a wire that comes from starter motor and bye passes the ballest resister to give it full 12v at the points. sounds like a coil problem.. if you have a multimeter it would be handy now.. your condencer could be dead to..

if you have a spare condencer swap them over. try run another positive wire from anywhere to coil and see what happens

it has nothing to do with coil or the condenser both new it the wiring we had a short and it screwed the wiring some wear so we have to get i auto elec in tomorrow but if he say i need to wire the hole car i'm ****ing the peace of off

The escort wiring is very basic. just read the workshop manual. Just rewire the ignition if ya have to

well the car was rewired a few years back before i owned it because nun of the wires match the work shop manual's colors but we found the resistance wire used old crimped joiners lead type one that had oxidized so were going to rewire from the relay im just sick of spending money that i cant afforded on the car because I'm a student and iv'e spent all the 800 bucks i had aside on the car trying to find the problem this includes the spark plugg and leads coil condenser rotter button and head relays gaskets and so forth all becouse the heads valves went so i bought a new head that came off an old escort coupe that some guy used to race
