Talking Kenne Bell BA XR8

Thankyou to Chris & Agro at Bluepower and Dave at CPV tuning in Mackay for transforming my stock as a rock BA XR8 4sp auto into something i look forward to driving. As others have said the after sale support is excellent.I had a custom 3" exhaust put on just before the Kenne Belle went on. Running 8 psi with the 31/2" pulley at the moment which managed 340 rwkw with not ideal conditions, but looking like stepping up to the 31/4 " pulley sometime early next year. I have the intercooled setup which helps with the temperatures up here in nth queensland. My goal is to run mid to high 11's at the moment but depending on cash flow next year if i get the motor built to suit. Went out to the drags on Friday night and with a small hicup at the start by not taking the special wheel socket : , we sacrificed 1 of Dave's sockets to get them off . Fitted 17" Mickey Thompson street radials to the rear end and we were right to go. temp was about 28 deg and around 80% humidity. On the first run I managed the best time of the night with a 12.27, we didnt get a mile hr reading though as that lane was not giving. The next run was 12.446 @ 113.4 mph and 60 foot of 1.886, and the 3rd run was a 12.3 at about the same mph. If I can work out how to cut and shut and post the video i will. Traction was unbelievable with the new set of Mickey t's. On the street I am running 245's and find it very hard to hook up all the way through first gear. I'm running the standard 3.46 rear end.
Chris what is your thoughts on water/methanol injection with this setup ?
Would it run cooler therfore being safer etc ?
Could you mod the gearbox to handle more power if I get the motor built?
Once again thanks to all.

Hey Buddy, how life in the fast lane???

Jeez, where do I start? Thanks for supporting our blower program and putting your faith in our product.

You have a great guy in your corner in Dave from CPV. Looks like on your first time out you have destroyed the ET's of the whipple blown cars that have raced in the same conditions. Well done again!!

Water/methanol is a great thing if used properly. The intercooler core supplied in our kits is the only Positive displacement setup guaranteed to withstand NOS, water and methanol.

Dave is the man to best speak to re the water/meth mix.

I was chatting away to Dave on saturday morning in the wash up, and we believe that your car with a 1.9 60ft in melb/syd/bris would be an 11.6 car. The conditions you guys race in is very trying.

2 more PSI will bring you to around 370-380 mark, and engine longevity is still on your side. And making boost with a big pulley like that, your boost line will be flatter than Paris hilton's chest.......

Feel free to give me a buzz today, Im just glad your happy, and leading by example.

All the best

Chris

Thats fantastic, just shows how good these kits really are to be able to pull off such numbers at the strip in those conditions.

Life in the fast lane is great chris, I haven't come across a bad comment on these blowers and Dave's comments steered me away from going to a vortech which was the original plan. Would have been dissapointed with the power. You have a promising future with this great setup as the word gets around. 370-380 rwkw sounds ike just what i need. I'm now looking forward to the cool winter air where better times are inevidible. I have a secret weapon to try on my next trip to the strip and will let you know how it goes : . If you have further interest up this way with the kits it does'nt bother me if you contact Dave and bring them around for a look. As long as Dave does'nt give them more power than me :evil3: . It feels very comfortable with this power in a newer type car. I took my brothers 383 XY down the quarter and ran a 12.3 @ 117mph on street tyres with no traction and nearly snapped my teeth .
I like the boost line as flat as Paris Hiltons chest as long as the boost line is as high as Pamela Andersons nipples while lying on her back.
will try & call you during the week.
Cheers

Chris, what boost would you need to run to get around 400rwkw out of a 260.

XRMATE - what other mods have you done to your car?

Hi DarkXr, I have only done the exhaust and then Bluepower and Dave fitted, tuned and sharpened up the shifts which was all included in the package. Unless you count tinted windows as a mod :togo:
I believe you would need 12 psi in a auto for 400 rwkw
and 10 psi may get you that in a manual
but am not 100% sure.

Hey buddy - depending on how the engine breaths, with the difilippo system and the manual, we see 390-410rwkw with a boost line that snaps to a shade under 11psi, and finishes right on 10 - 10.5 psi.

With a slightly smaller system, like a pacemaker 4:1 we usually see about 15-20 rwkw less, also if there is any kind of catback restriction.

Congrats XRMATE. This is a very quick car spoken from experience! The KB install was made to look easy with Paul up here, although he kept whinging about our heat and humidity up here? We tried to give him a cup of concrete so he could harden up, but Dave had to buy him a supercheap fan!!!

Seriously though, if I didn't buy my TTG, I'd take an intercooled KB any day of the week. They sound tough, they look tough - they are tough!!!

Congrats again - and thanks to Dave and Paul for putting up with me during the install hehe

Ahh....you fella's.
I'm not use to waking up at 5:30-6am sweating.
Thought about a dip in Daves pool, but it was already super-heated from the morning heat.........lol.
On a serious note, your a great bunch of guys.
It was good to meet up with the ones I did.
These kits are very easy to install, when you know what has to be done.
We have all the faith in the world for Dave to carry out the installs, and then tune the cars for your harsh enviroment. The more Dave plays with these kits, the better they will become. Good times for you BOSS owners in north Qld, that's for sure.
I will be back one guys, until then, enjoy your latest addition to your pride and joy.

Regards

AGRO.

Oh you could try & bring a Ray Warren type of approach to the comentating that would be interesting

Mt Terror-Tory (or Terry-Torture as Dave from CPV calls it) hasn't made a pass yet, but I handed a flooging to the other one running mid 12's (in an unofficial race) :P This heat is terrible though - if I can run 12's in this , I'll be more than happy.... Bring on quick times in winter

I'll update everyone soon in my Territory thread, but it was a terrible night! No traction whatsoever and really really humid. 12's were in order for the night, but I know she'll go heaps quicker...

Bring on winter :

OK going the next step next week as there is a meeting on Friday night.
2 more psi will be introduced aswell as water/meth injection.
I should also have a 2.5ltr swirl pot with 044 pump to lose the weight i had at the first meet ( full tank ).
Water/meth isn't being used for power gains but to cool intake temps more and make it more consistant as the runs are reasonably close together.
I cant remember exactly what Dave said but something to do with less chance of detanation aswell.
I also have a cool can that i am thinking of putting in.
Has anyone else got 1 of these installed ?
Feeling confident of a 11 sec pass but dam worried about my CV's.
Has anyone used the AADI CV shafts as i can get them for just under $300 a pair and would like to know what someone with around my new output figure of est 380 rwkw thinks of them.
And a big Layton Hewit
COMONNNNNN 11'S

Chow for now

Snow performance in the states do a half decent water/meth kit. I'd suggest having the car tuned without the meth setup so that in the event it runs dry and you dont noticed or someone else is driving the car it doesnt eat itself.
