Basically just after some possible problems with a car that has been stored for a period of time? Or if anyone has a positive/ not so positive story of a car they have stored.
Reason I ask is I'm going to inspect a '93 XG Panel Van (6 Cyl, dual fuel, supposedly one small spot of rust) tommorow that was stored for two years before now in a garage and besides the obvious area of rust, I'm really not too sure what else to look for in regards to problems that may arise from this? So any ideas or storieswould be great, just to give me a bit of an idea what could go wrong. Thanks

Rusted exhaust, damage from mice/vermin, perished fuel lines, rusty fuel tank... That's what I can think of off the top of my head. If it's been stored in a dry shed and was in reasonably good nick before it went in, I don't see any issues. Will probably need a new battery and if you buy it, I'd change the oil/coolant/etc before driving it.

Would it have seized up at all in two years? Might want to flush that sh^tty fuel out too.

Fuel does expire...so its best you flush it out, or at least fill it with fresh fuel if theres not much in there.
Brake lines/Fuel lines would be a worry wont they? not a drop going through them in 2 years?

Yeah I'll get a bit more of an idea on whether or not it was started during those two years but I spoke with the seller today and another buyer went to look at it a week ago, car apparently fired up first turn and ran fine.
See how we go, the seller doesn't seem to be trying to give me the wrong idea, he's been farely genuine but I'm more than aware that some would come across this way while being the complete opposite. Thanks guys, keep 'em coming.

I think 1994 was when the non-CFC gas became mandatory. I belive that the newer gas is at a higher pressure than the old gas, so is prone to leaking if not regularly run.
So, you may be up for an air-con regas in the case of the XG. MK |

The tyres will need air of course, but may also have a flat spot on them now from all the weight resting on a portion of the tyre. Not a biggie though.

my BA has sat relatively still since feb. licence back on thursday and i have a small shopping list, new battery, new tyres and the startmotor needs a good whack. apart from that she's as good as gold
