Today is (obviously) the last day of the month. I along with many others are looking forward to next week when the September sales figures are released (either Wednesday or Thursday). It will be interesting to see because:
Holden - I am hearing conflicting stories about VE sales. I have not seen many on the road and I hear that they are not selling as well as expected. But other people claim to see several a day. I'd be surprised if they sold more then 6,500 Ford - A difficult month to predict. With the opposition releasing new models and the BFII 'just around the corner', I expect a poor month. Conversely the recent introduction of the government LPG rebate may increase Falcon sales. Approximately 4,000 is my guess. Toyota - The new Camry seems to be selling like the proverbial hotcakes. I see them on a regular basis and wouldn't be surprised if they sold more then 4,000 (and pass the Falcon total). Mitsubishi - nothing new for the 380 and they will now slip back from the spotlight as they are no longer the 'new kid on the block'. Will they pass the 1,000 mark? I think the 380 looks better now then 12 months ago as the poverty pack 380 ES would easily beat the poverty pack Omega in both acceleration and fuel economy. And the 380 is significantly cheaper. Personally, I agree with Falcon Freak... I have seen a sparse Qty of Omega's, nothing specced any higher, I have seen LOADS and LOADS of Camry's though. Will be an interesting month...

Camry's are everywhere...I'm seeing at least 6+ per day, compared to only maybe 1 per day for the VE
I reckon a hard month for Ford, a poor month for Holden acheiveing below targets for the VE, and the surprise packet Camry to take the No. 2 position behind VE. VE - 5800 Camry - 4800 Falcon - 3800 Corolla- 3700 |

Personally I have only seen 1 camry. I have seen 10+ VE's but I have seen a lot of recently registered XR6's (I live in a city of 130k people). I think NZ may have a different trend this month. I suspect VE top, Falcon second, Corolla third, Camry also ran.

I've noticed more Camry's on the road then VE's while the local Holden dealer seems to have had the same stock out front for a while now....just an observation. And I've heard Falcon LPG ads on the radio almost every hour and started to notice more BF's lately although unless you see the brake lights on or see them head-on it's difficult to pick them over a BA/BAMkII.

I live in S.E Melbourne and if your gonne see any car in Victoria ull see it in my area! The only VE Commo's ive seen are the ones at raffle stands at F/gate shopping center!I had ago at a lambo Murcielago this arvo, just for the fun of it! Guess what? I beat it off the mark! (didn't really). The VE Commo looks like a commodre cross astra, it is so bad! I haven't been a big fan of the BF Falcon as im a marketing student and I don't think the presentation looks as sporty as it should, but the pics of the BF Mk2 look as though they have kept the shape but made it look more modern and sporty! I will bet my marketing degree that Ford will experience a higher rise in percentage of sales than Holden!
By the way I plan to be working in the marketing department of FPV by November next year, so we need to know what the true fans think of the Falcon to improve it!

You're not a current affairs journo are you Falcon Freak? You start this thread about 5 days early every month, rev up a lot of wild speculation and then release figures that are wildly different from the speculation! (Just having a tease here!)
Are we sure some of those Camry sightings are not whitegoods delivery trucks with fridges and washing machines on the back?

I live in Maroochydore, and I've seen maybe 1 VE on the road, my folks are up in Noosa, and I've seen between 10-20 VEs. A fair mixture too, Omegas, SV6s, SS, etc... What I've also noticed up that way too is that lots of people are getting round in VZ Clubsports...

VE's and Camry's are in plague proportions here already, so i expect a good month for Holden & Toyota. Iam also starting to see more BF's on the road.
The most depressing thing is that i have seen more Camry's on the road than Mitsu 380's already; depression considering that the 380 snots over the Camry is just about every respect

Saw a VE GTS 307 parked on the street. Looks pretty nice in person. Then I saw an FPV F6 Typhoon... no contest win to the F6 (Looks... performance too tough haha).

This is what i think when i seen anything about locally made car sales- "who buys them?" and "why bother when u can get an almost virgin BA/BF with 20 clicks for like 21k..."
Just hoping people don't loose too many jobs anytime soon.

One important thing I forgot to mention is that Falcon held its % market share at 3563 units. Which is a possitive sign that Falcon hasn't suffered with the first full month of VE sales.

It's amazing that it doesn't matter how much people are moaning about fuel prices Ford still can't shift the littlies.

Yeh i wonder whats the numbers for holden are.
In the end, thats a very good number of falcons considering the new competition... was expecting sub 3000. Terri sales seem low, Focus and Fiesta should still be able get more |

Commodore will outsell Ford most likely, but that doesn't mean that the Falcon will be pooed on. I think Falcon will still hold up well, as the Falcon has been behind the Commodore sales-wise since the introduction of the AU Falcon.
