Hey,
I was just looking at new concepts at the Geneva Motor Show and thought, you know what, we most likely won't see another Australian concept at a motor show, sad I know. So I thought why not start a thread on your favourites. I'll go first with one of the most important, the R7 The front of Ford R7 incorporates: •High intensity Xenon discharge lamp technology •LED turn signals •Pronounced and powerful bonnet powerdrome leading into the grille. Similar technology and design cues are contained in the rear of the vehicle, with: •Split rear tailgate for easy access •Hidden reverse sensors •Tail lamps reflecting the front lamp detailing with LED turn signals •Turned machine alloy exhaust. Ford R7 also includes massive 20" diamond turned alloy wheels and 20" laser cut tread tyres. Colour Ford R7 is presented in Blood Orange. The colour was chosen specifically to continue the dynamic and passionate image of the vehicle.

That wheel design ended up being the TT Ghia rims just smaller.
It's a similar design to the wheels on the BA GT-P. |

Me too, I still have the poster haha. Introduction: Built by Tickford in 1997 for the 1998 show season (Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane Motor Shows) the Predator was constructed to showcase the potential available within Ford's 4.0 litre SOHC six cylinder range. Designed to to lift the sales of second hand base Falcons (hence based upon a Futura instead of an XR6) - which were selling very slowly at the time - all parts used in the build had to be readily available throught the aftermarket which makes this vehicle especially relevant to our readers. Fitted with an aftermarket supercharger kit, this amazing Falcon features a host of interesting detailing items including carbon fibre engine dress up pieces and a full custom interior. Based interestingly on a Gli, there's no denying the bang for your buck should you choose to follow the same route! And unlike most specialty show cars, this one's a runner as the journo's discovered as they rocked up in droves to have a crack at the 230kW six. Engine: Surprisingly, no modifications were needed to the main engine components - with most mods limited to those required for fitment of the supercharger or dress up purposes only. Even the compression ratio is able to be retained at a heady 9.35:1 due to LPG's relatively high octane rating of 110 RON* (compared to ULP's 92 RON / premium unleaded 96 RON). Going Single Fuel LPG has many advantages, and being able to place the gas tank where the petrol tank used to go is only one of them. Others include the opportunity to fit a larger gas tank than normal (or even dual gas tanks) to achieve a higher range, reclamation of the Falcon's 60/40 split fold rear seat access (most gas installations block this) and the ability to tune the engine for optimum performance on gas without having to compromise due to the need to run petrol. A further benefit is in increased reliability and reduced service costs due to reduced complexity and not having to have the injectors cleaned after not running on petrol for some time!

If the predator gets a mention, then the XR8 Sequential should too!
http://www.trueblueford.com/el_sequential.html They're not really 'concept' cars though. More 'showcase', or just 'show', cars. |

I have some pics but no idea where they are, possibly others might have:
Galaxie from FPV open day. EA GT 351 from Discovery Centre AWD Falcon from Discovery Centre AWD 4 door ute from Discovery Centre Typhoon original concept from the motor show. This was the "T6 GT" that upset so many back in 2003/2004. And of course the incredibly amazing Territory with the open back from the FPV open day. |

I wish fpv had built a fairlane model, I would probably have one sitting in the driveway instead of the GT.

Never got to drive or see the actual car, just worked on a standard car supplied by Ford. Also helped make the brackets for the PIAA lights mounted on the front. |

XR8 sequential and the Sandfire ute were awesome. Every time i drive past an e-series ute I always think of those side guards and the sidepipes. Would be an awesome mod to do!

I've got photos of me as a kid standing next to the predator, xr8 sequential and the sandfire from the perth motor show sometime in the late 90's. My favourite photo is the back end of the xr8 sequential, MAN THOSE EXHAUST PIPES WERE HUGE!!!!!

I also remember Ford made the Sony Xplod AU XR8 which not only had a huge sound system it also had one of the nicest engines on a modern Aussie V8.
Not sure if it counts but Street Machine built the Sony Scorcher coupe from an ex-taxi! That was very cool The 300+ coupe was insane, so upset they never mass-produced them. Apparently a Ford Dealer in Mandurah WA has one? I would maybe consider killing for one of them. Can't think of any more off the top of my head... |

Great thread idea...takes you back. I can't believe they put out the EBGT when we could have had the 351.
