Default A step back in time.

My mum brought over a paper today and i found all this pretty interesting since I wasn't around in the 70's. Look at the prices of XWGT's, V8 XR's etc, and the price of tyres!! Of course the best part of the paper listing all the falcon models had been torn in half but you can get the idea. I bet you old buggers wish you could go back in time.

By the way there are some chihuahua puppies for sale in there if anyone's interested.

Wow.

Boy isn't it funny how things have changed in 40+ years?

Thanks for posting it up mate. I wasn't born in this era either. Nice to see some nostalgia.

$1595 for a GTS Monaro. I'll take 10.

Love the finance add. $50 deposit and a free taxi ride to yard.

Geeze interesting read there.

I have paper stashed away that I found under 40 year old Lino. Very interesting read.

I was having this discussion just the other day with the olds about "prices back then" but mainly to do with real estate.

They seem cheap now, but then again at that time it was a large sum of money! Same as now you can buy a small car for 15 grand or a GT Falcon / GTS for 4 or 5 times that.

When was the year of this paper? All the corners are buggered in the pics.

What would have been the average wage?

If a car was $2000 yet people were making $50 a week thats still almost 3/4 of a years income.

LOL cars from $5 a week!

if you take it into context

The average income in 1970-71 was just over $4000
The average income in 2006 was just over $55000

making the xw gt to buy in todays price 54862.50

not that much different really ......

yellow fest ... u beat me by 1 min lol
