R35 GTR is already released in Japan IIRC, so I don't really see why they need to worry about emissions testing.

Yep so when they release them in Mid 2009 its all good
Even though the base model will be released here at $168,000. Bull whilst boasting 351kw @ Fly at Standard im sorry to say once again Skylines will be hurting the V8 Scene. But seeing as most Nip Nip Doof Doof's couldn't afford a R35 the V8 scene looks safe.

There's been a two spottings on the street as far as I know. Importers are already advertising them for import but for race use.

Seeing as Nissan were so slow R35 will be available for import including street registerable, which the first steps have already been taken to have them complied. yes you can already import one for race use and there are a few already here for the Donut King targa car etc.

Likewise, the car was built for sales to the US, I'm sure the japanese made sure the car complied to the californian emssions laws. |

ADR compliancing probably requires a great deal more than just emission testing. For the above reasons I have no doubt the car will pass with flying colours. However the right paperwork has to be filled in by the right people before its approved for sale here in Australia.

Just because it will probably comply does not mean it will pass automatically. e.g. What if it requires to run on 102ron (common in Japan) fuel to pass emmissions. Most of Australia does not even have 98. How about safety fittings etc, most aussies are not 45kg. (The yank one is LHD and will be very different inside to comply with their rules). Just because you can drive a car does not mean you do not have to sit for a licence even if you have been driving for the last 50 years in outer mongolia. Craig Lowndes and Rick Kelly both had to get a learners and then drive with P plates..... There are procedures that have to be followed by all vehicle manufacturers to protect the general public of Australia. Everyone is treated equally, no exceptions. If they were not in place we would be flooded with $5000 chinese copy V8s that do 300km/h and kill 50 people a week.....(and that is a good week). |

Flappist is indeed correct.
Hense the reason for tests and corrections on cars when they're imported.
