Default 'The Wedge', worst show ever?

I taped the first episode of 'the wedge' lastnight (ch10) while i was at work.
put it on when i got home, and my wife and i sat through it.
didnt laugh once. i don't think i even cracked a smile.
that would have to be the most random collection of rubbish ever. I mean, it even had "Hotdogs, starring(???) as himself".
It appeared to be a bunch of rehashed sketches taken from early 90's skit shows....

one program i'll never be watching again

I must admit I didn't watch it, but if the best it had was on the ads, then I don't think it deserves to have a very prosperous future.

yeap pathetic and wont last a month.

God and did they hype it up! The only marginally funny bit was the guys cutting the cords.

IMO, there has not been one good aussie comedy show since Full Frontal!

So very disappointed. The ads looked great. The concept is fantastic - reminded me of the old comedy comapny sketches where ian mcfarlane (no - not the chair of the RBA) did david rabbitborough's documentaries on the suburban australian. I mean, stereotyping the heck out of everyone and then taking the pi$$ has so much potential.

The characters they picked for the wedge looked spot on. Lol - woggy schoolgirl, disgruntled farmer etc.

But HOW did they get it SOOOO wrong?!?!?!? Wasnt funny at all, didnt flow. Extremely disappointed. Should have been more kath and kym style with dedicated actors as opposed to one actor playing various characters.

At this point id like to second rodderz. Bring back ANYTHING with shaun michalef and i'll watch it. Even if it's re-runs of the shaun michalef show.

i must admit i didnt watch it, but i thought the whole sandra sultry on the ads was funny, but then that add was shown for weeks and i couldnt give a stuff about bothering to watch the show.

Full frontal used to be a wicked show but i do recall sensing they were running out of ideas before it was later discontinued.

+1 vote for the Shaun Michalef show!! anything that man does is gold.
other than that i guess its back to Rove.

It was the worst show ever, and I knew it would be.

I'm surprised a large corporation bothered to air it. I mean, do they honestly think it will be a big success?? You'd have to have a screw loose.

Yea I thought it sucked too. It did seem like it would be funny from the ads but no such luck. We need some quality programs to get back on the air! Rove is funny but he is annoying at the same time.

"The Wedge" was about as funny as a wedgie. Uncomfortable, not necessary, not funny, and causes immediate grief.

I liked it... we need a few more comedy shows... the 90's was great for that, but over the past 6 years, TV channels (mainly 10, 9 and 7) have tried and failed - Rony John's Half Hour, 7 tried to start that Comedy Live - lasted like one show, I didn't mind the one that Rove produced, but it was too much work to keep going, The Sketch Show that Lee Mack produces is GREAT, but ATM, he is re-doing the show staring himself, but over in America - they can't act half as good as the english for comedy gigs. I also think that Channel 9 is strugling with some Up-Late comedy show....

I liked The Wedge, but they do need to bring back Fast Forward, or Full Frontal....

I just can't understand why they can't make good quality shows like the last mentioned few, yet Big Brother, Australian Idol and Dancing with the Stars are all doing well..... pfffttt

Absolutely!!!!

I'd love to see a best of Shaun Micallef program(me) including
Milo and Dr. David McGan. They are 2 of THE best characters ever created!!!

Glad I didn't have get back that wasted time of my life by not watching The Wedge, the ads for it decided it for me long before it went to air.

Jeez dont you guys think you're being a little harsh?

It was the first episode afterall, maybe it will get better as time goes on.

I'm sure when Full Frontal debuted, alot of people thought it was crap aswell.

I thought it was pretty funny though.

Personally I don't find much scripted Aussie humour funny. Chopper is about the only thing I can think of, and that was black comedy.

I'll stick to (UK) The Office, Ali G and Family Guy.
