Does this mean they're buying korean ventilators and putting a sticker kit on them?

I've been wondering about how much manufacturing capacity we still have left that we can ramp up because even if we import from overseas no doubt some will be held at the border of origin to be used in their own country depending on how things go.

Gee I might actually have to make Walkinshaw my favourite Holden team because of this. Of course they play second fiddle to all the Ford teams and are on their lonesome.
Just goes to show you want a hole the closure of automotive plants is to our national manufacturing capability. Last edited by minheim; 23-03-2020 at 05:30 PM. Reason: added extra comment |

Most wilky owners / fans are full of hot air so I can understand the R&D that’s gone in to them

Nice gesture but I would be surprised if HSV can make complete working and approved ventilators in the time frame they are needed.
Our work is already making machined components for a USA company that make actuators that are used to supply the companies making ventilators. They normally give us orders for a less than a thousand of each part number about twice year. They are now asking how quickly we can supply them for orders of 200K on some of their part numbers. |

Walkinshaw and Premcar finally got it done. Appears it’s actually approved for medical use. |

Walkinshaw produced 9000 vehicles last year and I’m pretty sure Premcar produce a thousand or so also.
How do you know they have no customers for this device? In the video the Premcar engineer says they have 1000 orders. |

The same government that pleaded with distillers to pivot to hand sanitisers at great expense, then went and imported the stuff leaving the local producers with hundreds of thousands of units of unsellable product? Hospitals arent in the habit of buying surplus equipment. The max number of ventilated patients at any one time during the height of covid-19 cases was under 50 in NSW. There simply isnt a need for them. |
