Most of the joint venture factories/enterprises do have best practice quality control measures in place.

In fact some factories have had high quality control for 20+ years.

Atlas Copco is a good example. Pick just about any electronics company. It will be the same.

Always amuses me when people generalise about Chinese manufacturers ;)

Toyota had better watch out. China is good at quality but they are no respecters of intellectual property when it comes to adopting designs as their own. This is the way things are heading:

China will no doubt become the major producer of manufactured goods in the world.

While only specialist niche products will be made in other countries. Auto industry are paving the way somewhat, but once auto manufacturers are established, those same quality control and production efficencies will flow onto other manufacturing operations.

Yep it happens alot. It happens with australian products too. there have been australians who have taken products that sell well here and had them replicated by chinese companies for resale here.

The cheap Chinese intercoolers are one example of that.

They have no respect for petents and copyrights and once Australian manufacturing capability has been killed off due to not being able to fight the competition we'll be a slave to their manufacturing power.
