Default EOI: Custom Bits for E-series Falcons..

Hello All,

As some of you may be aware i tend to have a talent for making custom bits.. After numerous requests i have decided that i would like to offer my prowess to those interested..

First item i will be offering will be a custom 6.5" speaker pod designed for EA-EL Falcon door trims.. Most people when making a custom pod for E-series just blank the bottom 3rd of the door in MDF and build up from there..

Instead i have made a mould of the map pocket and have created a very neat looking pod that fits perfectly into the map pocket area..

But hey.. I will let the pic's do the rest of the talking.. Pods can be supplied unfinished as seen in pic's or i will upholster them in a coloured velour type material of your choice.. Price depends on what your after but in the form you see in the pic's i am after $200 neg + freight.. Price includes instructions on how to fit and cable glands...

Keep an eye out for more custom bits which in have in the pipeworks..

Feel free to drop me a PM with ideas or suggestions..

Cheers,
Nik

Thanks for comments guys..

I have a custom gauge pod prototype half done in the shed.. Not pillar type though.. LOL.. I can do pillar ones but i reckon they will hang out to far.. plus legalities..

One question for everyone.. what is the most common size gauge you guys use.. 2" or wat??

Cheers,
Nik

2-1/16" for guages! What have you got so far in the form of custom guage pods? I'm still undecided as to where I want mine.

Hey there Nik. These pods look awesome and would surely be a neater way to go rather then auto barn plastic pods sticking out the side of my door. Where abouts are you from so i can work out some postage prices up to QLD. Also would you know if i would be able to still run the standard speakers from an EA in the front doors as well as a set of 6.5inch speakers ???

(1993 EB body, some minor marks, full interior (electrics need attention) NO MOTOR, gearbox needs 5th. Make offer.

Also in the shed is a 3.9ltr straight six (1990 EA). headers, crow cam, 5spd manual included. may need minor rebuild. Again make offer

Hey mate,

Thats the reason why i decided to make these pods.. cos the pre-fab ones from autobarn etc, are designed for flat door trims..
I am from Albury - Wodonga, VIC/NSW border.. You can still run the standard speakers provided you are running off an amp that is capable of running at 2 ohm stable..

Ok guys.. Couple more updates.. Had a request for a dual 6" pod.. here are some prototype pics..

I went to repco today and the standard size guages they have are 2 5/8".. Can someone please confirm the most common sized gauge and how many you would like.. i was thinking 3 or 4..

Cheers,
Nik

They look good Nik. I reckon three spots for gauges under the ashtray would be ideal.

These look great !!! whats the chane of a deep blue velour covered pod, also have a tweeter but can hide that in the old speaker location.

Any chance of raised lettering on the pods ?

Yer, below the ashtry is one spot i was thinking for the gauges.. the other spot i will show once i have finished the prototype.. hopefully this arvo..

Deep blue as in navy?? Post a pic of colour and i will try and get a match.. Raised lettering shouldn't be a prob.. as long as you aren't fussy on the font..

Cheers,
Nik

could you do a gauge holder mould of that stupid useless triangular space next to the clock/trip comp on ea-ed models? 1 or 2 2" gauges up there would be good.

Yeah like Navy and the lettering would be the "GT" type font.

hey mate if you make the guage holders under the ash tray in that small spot like SPHELL had in his EA with 3 guages (think he had the 2 1/16) or just two 2 5/8 inch guages would be good too if they face the driver too would be awsome. just some ideas. ill definatly keep on looking at this thread.

Ok.. hit a snag with the custom gauges and until i can overcome it they are going to be on the back burner.. Hopefully i can get some fresh ideas tomorrow when i am at work..

I have started on a prototype for the gauges below the ashtray and hopefully will have it done by the weekend.. at this stage it will be 2 x 2 5/8" gauges..

I had a quick play with a few ideas for the triangular space above the air vents.. i should be able to knock something up..

Anyone have some old gauges, 2" or 2 5/8", that they want to sell cheap or exchange for something.. they dont need to be working.. i just need them for clearances..

I am hoping to have one set of the door trims finished and trimmed up in velour and in my car by tomorrow night so i will post up pics of them tomorrow night hopefully..

Cheers,
Nik

Yer thats no prob dude.. wat size speakers are you gonna be running in them though.. the ones in the pic are for a relatively conservative 6" speaker.. Price on the twin speaker ones are $250 for the pair unfinished.. i can give them a quick coat of spakfilla to smooth them out a bit if required..

Cheers,
Nik

talking about pillar pods for guages you can buy a 2 guage pillar pod to suit ea-d and ef-l falcon off the shelf, someone should buy one and then make some cheaper fibreglass ones, i have both ea-d and ef-l in stock at my work

Yer no worries dude.. was relatively easy.. took about 3 attempts to get the speakers facing out right so they looked good.. i might even have a play around tomorrow night.. i have had a request for a 4" and 6" in the one pod.. should look interesting..

I also had a great idea a bit earlier.. i am think of doing a door trim pack which will come with:

Front speaker pods as seen above..
Front panelling for area around door handle where the material is..
Rear panel to match front pods.. possibly a 4" speaker there aswell..
Rear panel for around the door handle where the material is..

So just add material and fit and you have 4 'fully sik' custom door trims.. Price would prob start at $500 for the basic pack..

Wat do you all reckon?

Cheers,
Nik

Nah not quite what i had in mind but that is doable.. Prob with that is that the tweeter will be right next to your arm and will mess up your sound stage..

I am going to do my car with a kit and then that will show you all wat i mean..

Cheers,
Nik
