Default Anyone have concessional rates on their vintage/classic?

In WA any cars before minted before 1990 can now apply for 75% concessional off the vehicle rego.
But you have to join an approved club,
"Vehicles can only be used for a maximum of 90 days per calendar year, being:

60 days to participate in approved motoring club events; and
30 days for personal use (includes road testing, repair and maintenance).

Vehicle owners to record the vehicle use in a logbook (a logbook template is provided below), prior to commencing each journey.

Vehicles cannot be used for fee, hire or reward.

Vehicles must display an approved plate or label stating “restricted use’ "
(from the WA licensing web site)

My XC will save me $324 every 6 months.
I do drive it rarely, certainly not close to the periods mentioned.
I'm OK with a log book, but what are the downfalls of joining a club?
Fee's, attending club meets etc.

So just looking for any input from others who have gone down this path.

Depends on the club. Some are run just for the rego benefits others are strict and want x amount of club attendance. I just tell them straight, I'm just joining for the cheap rego, but I do try and attend 1 meet a year.

I'm keeping mine on full rego's for now. My cars are my outlet, when I've had a crappy day or week I jump in and forget it all with a nice drive up the coast. I don't want to have to do all the pre notification of my journeys.
Money wise instead of spending time at club events and meetings I just do a bit of weekend overtime.

However saying all that I've usually got a car on the build, I've paid 5 years worth of rego on the Mk1 so far without it touching the road. I need to find out whether they need to be pitted or not to put them back on full rego. If you don't I may look at trying it out.

Not sure where you're at Jaydee but the Northern steel club is offering concessions, $50 membership and pretty casual cars and coffee style meets once a month. They'd be the one I'd join.

Thanks Rallye, yes north.
Good to know, because just about all clubs are south side.
Yes, I must find out if they have to be inspected again for full rego, bug-ger that.

Hi Jaydee,

I think you are talking about the new system which I think is designed for the modified cars, I have 9 cars on the original 404 system and I think I pay about $70 pa for each car, I have never had an issue on the usage limitations - never get enough time to drive them all anyway, but that system is for original cars..not modified.
I am fairly sure my mates on the east coast have the log book style system and seem to be ok with it...the suitability of which system you choose is dependent how someone wants to use the car/s....for me the normal licensing cost got ridiculous with so many cars, one of my cars was fully licensed from 1982 till last year.. its now on the 404 system...I dont want to think about how much that cost to fully license it for all those years
I would not accept a club that forces you to attend meetings etc....if they put on events that interest me, I will go, if they dont, I wont go

Thanks ESPJG32.
I've looked into and been in touch with the club Rallye Sport suggested.
They sound perfect, no required meeting attendances, no club rooms, just have their committee meeting at a local pub.
Only requirement is a sunny disposition, I'll have to work on that.
Car is not modified, well only slightly from original.
