It never ends. A mortgage (in my case two) only slows you down a bit lol.

Me lol. I swore black and blue there would be no mods on the AU and that it would remain a stock 'family car'. But then a few weeks later, it all began :

Not me, I hated the stock forte, but could see so much potential. It was purchased pureley as a $3000 canvas to work on.

I've had 5 AUs, and done mods to all of them. Started with my manual red AU1 XR8 - I got momo wheel, and aftermarket shifter, and 17" ROH Azzurros with Ford centrecaps. So I started off tame, and it just got worse from there. The wagon is the most highly visually modified, while the auto blue XR8 is the most highly mechanically modified (even though there's not that many engine mods to it). It never gets any better. And I know that IF I bought a BA/BF, it would be lowered, with 18s or 19s, exhaust, edit, tint etc as well. When I plan to buy a car now, I just put $4k aside for immediate mods (rims, suspension etc).

I belong here too.

However, I hardly touched my old EA (just did CD player and speakers), but have gone in a different direction with the AU.

I'm also in the middle of planning my next lot of power mods, and eye pleasantrys.

I am afraid that AGE doesn't slow you down either. At 50+ I STILL have the Yen to CHANGE things My AU1 XR6 is a block of clay waiting to be moulded.

One SMALL mod so far but MANY more are in the head waiting to come out. Next one is the SL springs for the rear then, Lip Spoiler, front and rear bar Spoilers then...................... etc etc etc etc

Well for me, it's started off slowly. My next years resolution will be to, stop spending money on my car. Of course, I'll spend little bits here & there. And maintenance.

By the end of this year, there won't be anything really left to do, but turbo. So I can start saving for a house.

But for every car I own, it'll always have it's own mods.

same story here, bought a higher spec, optioned, more powerful car so i didnt have to do anything to it, but as you say, just ended up a better base to work from.....

looks like i may have sold the ute now anyway (hand over in a couple months) and will be getting a BA Mk2 XR8 ute, no doubt at all about this one being modded pretty well (already have a mod list in MS word lol no joke), i just tell myself now that it helps the business - which it does

Good strategy LOL! Worked for me with the AU1 brake upgrade!

Having trouble with the S2 Xr6 spring upgrade though! Here's how it went.

Good lady wife (GLW) "So we needed new springs for the sedan right?"
GK "Not really"
GLW "Why did you buy them then?"
GK "They were a bargain, they'll help the car to handle better."
GLW "So we needed them then?"
GK "Well not exactly, but they will lower the car, and it will handle better!"

I just got deeper and deeper in strife. But all is good, they should be installed soon.

Now how the heck do I justify 2 momo steering wheels and gear selectors?
Oh and the Tickford dashes, and the chrome door handles X8 and the chrome gear selector surrounds, and the ..... and the ..... and the...... LOL!
