Just had a look on ebay, the cheapest was $170 including P&H.
got any links? ok found some others once I left out the work FORD in the search, there seems to be a fair bit of confusion out the standard in AUS between 1996 to now as to whether is will work on my AU, does anyone know the protocol used? One listed says it will work with the following: READS PROTOCOLS - CAN - J1850PWM - J1850VPW - KWP 2000 ISO 14230.4 - ISO 9141 does the AU Series one fall into one of those above?

Buy yourself an ELM327 compatible tool from eBay, and consider purchasing the ScanXL Software from www.palmerperformance.com. OK, you need a PC to get it to run, but it also means you can upgrade to Ford Enhanced diagnostics with that software. We've done a lot of work on the ELM327 on Aussie Fords. Check this out: http://www.fordmods.com/ecu-fuel-sys...un-t25010.html
The AU uses Ford SCP (Standard Corporate Protocol) which is one of the J1850 protocols I believe. The BA/BF/SX/SY/FG use CAN and ISO9141. The CAN implementation on the FG is a bit different because it has both the same HS-CAN as on the B series, and an MS-CAN (Medium Speed) as well - but presented on non-standard Pins on the OBD2 DLC port, so you can't do diagnostics on them with anything other than a Ford VCM tool unless someone works out how to build a pin-switching cable using parts from OBD2Cables.com. I'm dribbling now aren't I.... Lukeyson

I have one of these at work. Comes in handy sometimes. The only problem is if its a manufacturer specific code you dont know what it is unless you google the code you might be lucky.

I only really need the basics DTC's, like why has this thing stopped and why wont it start?? MY AU Series ute has a full custom tune program beacause of the engine mods and the standard program has a fit trying to sort out the new input values, so it now has "errors" that are part of the norm and doesn't effect the driving, but I still would like to know more. I have questions like, since the AU and the 4sp auto tranny have this torque limiting program and no one seems able to bypass it via reprograming, is it feesible to install a BA ECU and BCM into an AU as they don't have this problem and from all that I've read are much easier to crack and work with......ahh the questions never stop.
