Default For those trying to get more power out of the Pinto engine...

Not sure yet, probably just the basics to begin with, but with two of them to play with, I guess there isn't really much to stop me from going nuts on at least one of them... Asides, of course from the whole $$$ issue...

But yeah, I've posted those links because I thought a few other people around here might find them interesting and useful, as well as for my own reference. And I think a pinto setup like that in an Escort that weighs bugger all would be a hell of a lot of fun. :

I have a book on the Ford Pinto engine called How to modify Fords 2.0L OHC Engine or something by David Vizard I think it is - I could be wrong, when I get home I'll check. It's incredibly detailed and useful for the Pinto engine on modifying it. I'm only borrowing it though and trying to chase down my own copy.

Thanks for the links! My Escort is going to need as much information as possible.

No problem, I've got that book myself, so if anybody needs any particular information from it (just snippets really, I think scanning or typing out whole chapters might be stretching copyright law a bit too far) I can help.

I thought a few of us would find information on those links useful. I think it's better to learn from other peoples experiences when possible, particularly when it comes to the relatively expensive hobby that we have.

Any bookstore worth it's salt should be able to order it in, if your lucky, a book store specilising in technical books might even have it in stock - no harm in asking is there?

i have a feeling that book is out of print. try pitstop bookshop in perth (look them up online). of all the places i have been , i havent come across a better car bookshop anywhere. if it is available, they will be able to get it for you.

Also try Motor Book World in Burke Rd Camberwell (melb) and Wheels of Time in Dandenong. Both have second hand books in stock, and may have it.

I had an eskie 2.0 @ similar spec to that less the EFI. It was good fun inc loads of rpms. 2.0 rev'd it's head off. Good little motor and cheap to build. I had triple valves springs though. My brother inlaw ended up killing the motor, as I sold the car on the condition I kept the elec fuel pump. Told him to buy an elec pump and he ran it too lean and detonating like a ***** with the stock mech pump!

I ended up with a HD 6cyl cortina clutch. Escort clutches never lasted very low. Usually about 1 week. 4.11 gears were fun.

or do what i did get a mr2 supercharger 850 holley on it made 189hp at the wheels on a very old 2ltr with a worn cam that was untuned with a clutch slippin
on the road it left my 12 sec falcon for dead
next on the list new rings a cam with all its lobes and 10-12 psi instead of 6psi
the other problem is the 4 speeds keep breakin anyone got a shift kit for a c3 or a bellhousing for a c4 to 2ltr?

An auto wouldn't fit in a manual tunnel. The auto tunnel is wider.
