Yes this is relating to the new falcon.
I have been a firm supporter of the styling direction of the Orion. It was a direction that was going to set it apart from the opposition in a big way, and really instill some design innovation. It was still a falcon, but there was to be no comparisons to Holden. Some concerns have appeared in the last couple of days as information has come at hand. I hear (not seen, will work on that) that it has gone conservative and not too distant from styling themes of BF2. This isnt necessarily a bad thing as the themes of BF2 when executed on a brand new shell can look infinantly better, but it still concerns me that it seems it isn't going to be was was planned 12 months ago. I will try and get more info and hopefully get to see it, this will hopefully allay some concerns. Ofcourse this is all from a styling point of view. |

The styleing of the orion is completly different to the BF2. Its to late to make any body changes as the die's are being manufactured and prototype pannels have been approved. At this stage it could only be front or rear bumper changes.

Yes it is all new, gone are the limosine doors which extend up into the roofline for the more traditional inset door. Gone is the large depression running along the side of the car. The track is wider which gives a bulkier stance also. Dont get me wrong, it's turning out to be quite an awesome car and with some great engineering innovations also. |

Won't be getting built til the end of the year, then by the time enough of them are testing on the road for the spy pics to start rolling in, it could be well into the new year. |

I'm with Genghis. I've read the name on another thread the other day, but I didn't know anything about "Orion". Can someone fill us in?

i dont want conservative! i want somethin like that iosis concept.
Ford stated that people are buying the XR6 *** it looks aggressive, i think thats bull. The reason why people are buying the XR6 over the XT is because it just looks good, the XT was too conservative me thinks (except for BA SR, that looked noice)! Not saying the new falc shouldnt be aggressive, but it should look good at the same time. Thats the problem with the BFII i think. They made it look too aggressive, forgetting to make it look good at the same time |

Never really noticed that- There is a hell of a lot of Iosis in the BF 2 from the Doors Forward.
Bit like Holden i suppose with its VZ to VE styling cues.

To me the shape of the orion is very impressive. It has taken on the europian look with the high shoulder line. I havent heard of any engine changes I know ford are sticking to the i6 and the boss, I did hear that a supercharged boss was being looked at but I dont know how true that is. I dont think orion will released for sale till late 08

I did a survey type day on the new Falcons at Jeff's Shed back in late August.(03) It took 3 hrs and was paid $100 (plus arvo tea & scones & free parking lol) They had 4 clay models, 4 front interiors to sit in & choose from, then a round table discussion.(Unseen Ford execs in another room videoing & recording the lot) Although the clays were only base model falcons, at the round table discussion they showed poster size pics of the XR versions (3 fronts, rears and sides) & yes Very European, with the front that everyone decided on looking a little Merc CLK-ish BUT VERY tough! The side elevation looked slightly "cougarish" with scalloped doors & a similar wedge type shape. It is SO hard to describe without pics, and there was NO way of taking any (as previous said, all phones were confiscated at the door) There were 12 of us present, from memory 5 were SS drivers, the rest of us, either BAXR or FPV drivers. Without exception, everyone agreed if this (XR version) was released tomorrow, that they would order one!

My concern is more relating to charliewools experience, in that what he was shown back then and was expected to be achieved, may now have changed. Not necessarily in a negative way, i'm just going to try and confirm it as soon as i can that's all. |

Holden are talking about their 2008 engine now so perhaps. Claiming they will have 7-10 percent fuel economy increase and a power level of around 215kws.
We are probably a couple motor shows early to see anything of substance.

I think it will be more of an evolution rather than something like the iosis concept. I am glad those doors are finally gone, this has never been one of the Falcons high lights since the e series. I think that no matter what Ford come up with, they will never do another AU. That just cost too much money and lost ground (remember I am only talking about styling here). I am guessing that the Orion will be an instant classic. I think it is also interesting that some people are starting use the words euro looking and high shoulder line, and that the iosis concept shows off those big flares, yet most people here do not like this in the VE. I hope these are some of the features of the Orion styling as this is what I like about the VE. |

How about those of us who dont know just wait and see what FOrd dish out. Speculation is only going to lead to people posting rubbish about what a mate of mate's pet dog saw whilst doing a bog outside the ford R&D department.
