2ltr Pinto cylinder head bolt size

Hey guys,
Would anyone know what the size of the driver i'd use to on the bolts holding the cylinder head of a 2 liter pinto are?

I believe they look similar to such (this is a TORX type?)

hang on let me find the cortina book i have.

Damn cant find the book, i am sure its in the shed, will have to get in daylight, might even have the tool out there as well, will check for that too.

I have a Ford escort repair manual and Gregory's service and repair manual but am unable to find it. A double hexagon socket wrench appears to be the tool that needed, the size, I'm still unsure of.

As the bolt is the part that is the has the socket end, would this be a hard tool to come by?

yeah took me a while to find one in a 2nd hand tool shop at that, and i dont think it was all that cheap either.

not looking good this end, thought i could find the tool, a few other spots to check, but not looking good.

try find a UK car club for some info possibly.

IIRC, I think it is a twelve point bit, size 12. I tracked down a kincrome one in the 90's. I just pulled it out of the tool box to see if I still had it. It is a bit dusty!

I've seen the results of someone trying to use the incorrect bit to get them off. Does more damage than good.

and the 12mm 12 point socket is looking good.

You can get the spline bits from supercheap for about $10 a set

Monkeydog, do you have a headbolt lying around, or be able to get hold of one?
If so, walk in to any tool shop, and see if they have one to fit.
The links you put up look exactly like the one I have.

Thornspawn's idea sounds pretty good too.

Ok, Thanks for your help guys, I think I have enough information now to get further in my attempt to obtain one.
I'll take a look in supercheap as well.

If I find the definate part, I'll post back here what it is for future reference.

I bought 2 different sizes of these Spline Drives when I was into Eskys... still have them too I think and i'm pretty sure I got them from Pep Parts or similar. They are a long shaft with 1/2" socket end.
There was another bolt the same type but a smaller size..... the belt tensioner I think, might pay to get that one too.

Success,
I got a kincrome set of bits for around $50 from bunnings.
The part is a 1/2" (12mm) 12 point spline, labeled M12

Head bolts came out no worries.

mine had 12mm hex head bolts :S

guess someone replaced the original ones with something more user friendly.
