Am currently building up my XD sedan as a street/strip runner, but with the majority of my racing to take place on the 1/8th, I need to know ANDRA's rules as to what ET/MPH makes it compulsary to run a cage!
I am hopefull the car will run well into the high 6's at maybe 100ish??? and want more than 1 pass before being told to bugger off. If I got to cage it is it 4 or 6 point? Bolt in or weld? Anyone got a rule book defined answer?? |

Good question. a 6.90 over the 1/8 mile is a 10.7 - 10.80 on the 1/4.
You will if you hit the 1/4 mile

you will only need a 4pt but since you going to do all that work, you may aswell run a 6 point.
i will get my rulebook out of the shed this arvo and type out the rules.

Ive got an 06/07 ANDRA Rule Book you can have for the cost of postage if you want it. Will hopefully be in the Mount for the hill climb in Nov as well if that helps.

I think the best thing to so is use plastic bolts on the seat and leave your window down!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeXpziXP-Bg IMHO whether your doing 12sec pass or 10 sec pass, there's just as much potential to get into trouble. That guy in the vid only had 12.3 dialled in.....although he was dumb for hitting the gas again after crossing into the other lane out of shape......natural selection in progress I'm planning on fitting a 6 point even though I will only need a 4 point....just to give me more peace of mind. 2007/2008 ANDRA book..........same as last year: 4 point roll BAR for: Street Registered 10.00 - 10.99 1/4 6.5 - 7.0 1/8 AND less than 140mph (no speed specified just for the 1/8th) Wording: Single rollover hoop covering full width of drivers compartment with 2 bolted back stays and a bolted side intrusion bar (I read as drivers side only). 6 point roll CAGE for: Street Registered 8.00 - 9.99 1/4 5.0 - 6.25 1/8 Wording: Cage attached at 6 points, with removeable side intrusion bars (option....but they are illegal on street, the intrusion bars that is). There's a few crazy engineering terms thrown in but you need a taxi bar too (runs behind the seats and joins the main drivers hoop). There are issued with what can be bolted in and what needs to be welded. The way I read the rules is that if you run a NON street registered car quicker than 10.99, you need a 6 point cage. General overview, but there's specific ANDRA specs that need to be met in the book for construction. |
