Default Got Oil Pressure....

.... nup.

Ok some of you know the trouble i've had with my EB lately, the original motor let go so i decided to put a 3.9 in it as it was FREE and i was assured it had compression and was a runner. That didn't work out. A lot of time and fuel wasted there. Oh well move on.

Got another motor, STOKEB's old 4.0 with AU internals, bolted my good head onto it and crowcam, wacked it all together and dropped it in last night. Got it started, but by this stage it was really late so we only ran it for 20 seconds or so and than called it a night. This evening, with the help of Doug and Sunny and Ash, we got everything back together and had it ready for a test run. We started it up and had it running for a couple of minutes while trying to find a vacuum leak, all a sudden the ticking starts getting really loud. Checked oil presure, and there was none. :o Pulled the rocker cover off to find my crow cam destroyed, the head is wrecked too, i'll post pictures tommorrow maybe, it's a real mess shavings everywhere.

Anyways we spoke to Hus (STOKEB) about it and we reckon the motor has been tampered with at some stage, as it went through 3 different people before I put it in, and It deffinately had a working oil pump when Hus Sold it. So ИИИИing ИИИИed off.

Pretty close to throwing in the towel with this car, but i'm going to persist and get a motor from a wrecker with a warranty, possibly AU motor this time. Hopefully will be doing the swap in about 2 weekends time. if anyone wants to come lend a hand it would be much appreciated.

Just a warning to others, be wary about ИИИИ you buy off these forums, as sometimes you don't know what the ИИИИ you are getting.

Stay tuned For "ИИИИED motor number 4!!!"

Damo

yep pump. :( That's about the only thing that could cause it. The rocker gear was all dry which is why the cam has completely rorted itself and the head, bottom end *might* be ok.

You did put oil in it before you started it? Ive heard a couple of brand new engines go because someone overlooked filling up with fluids. Assuming it was oiled, my guess would be someone has played with the dizzy and the drive shaft for the pump has fallen out.

yeah stock there was oil in it lol. I changed it this evening. Your theory on the driveshaft and the dizzy sounds like it could be spot on.

I've got to admit it was heart-breaking to see this happen last night after all the effort and $$$ that Damo has put in to what is now the third dud motor for this EB. It is a really nice car so hopefully we can organise yet another engine and have it running again.

Sounds like the drive shaft was not checked if it was present, else someone put in a stuffed oil pump.

I always hate starting up a new motor, you never know what might go wrong.

Good luck with it.

Buy an AU motor, and when you put your dizzy onto it, you'll know for sure if if the drive shaft is in properly coz you gotta do it yourself! Bad luck mate, all the best with the next one.

Maybe just rebuild what you have? At least at the end of it all you will have something that will be a good base to build on and you will know where you stand.

One of your heads should be OK still- if not get an EF head, the AU bottom end probably just needs a new set of bearing shells and a good clean up.

Thats what I'd do anyway. I bet you CBF with any more rooting around!

TUFFED6 said something very wise.
I would do exactly what he said, get a rebuild with an ACL kit or something. At least that way you know it wont give you anymore problems.. thats IF you can afford te extra cash

bad luck dude

Talk about bad luck with this car. We were all excited about starting it up only to have it all fizzle out again with no oil pressure. Hey Damo, I've been thinking about this today and now I don't reckon there is anything wrong with the bottom end, I'll bet 1000 bux that the shaft that drives the oil pump is missing. Like Hus said on MSN, the engine has been around the block a few times and has fallen over in people's boots etc. The shaft has probably fallen out at some stage.

you would probably need to shine a torch down there to see the shaft or get a magnet.

Hey Damo found you a motor for $450. Sent Ash a message, not sure if you got it. It's from that guy who's selling me the other motor's. Good kays, works well. It's a dedicated gas one so it's got some better ИИИИ on it.

Let me know if you're interested, I'm picking my other motors up next Tuesday so I'll grab that one for you as well bro.

Anyways tough luck, some dodgy people on these forums *cough you know who you are and you should explain yourselves*...

Terrible luck Damo, who would have thought. :( From this point, I agree you can justify buying a top notch motor and calling it a day. I'm over the headache and heartache of trying to do things on the cheap.
