Unhappy Help...Noise comming from new Focus Zetec

Hi.. First time poster..
I brought a new Zetec for my local Ford dealer 2 months ago..
Within the last month i have heard a pinging and sometimes a splattering noise from what i did think was coming from the back of the car but now i believe to be from under or the motor... ( no idea anymore : ).... anyway... this sound seems to happen when i put my foot at a certain position on gas....
I have taken it to Ford and they can not find the problem.. Any one heard of ths b4?? the noise is sending me batty!!
at the moment i'm not happy with ford...
HELP!!!

Our Focus pings too. It's a fairly common problem. Ford are NO help at all. They will tell you to use 95 RON petrol and this does help a bit but they will not do anything about the problem and they lie about it. Go back and INSIST they fix it.

Ford won't fix a thing, ford can't fix anything.

Ford assume that the headlight switch the lights on that are painted on.

I would not trust ford to fix anything on these cars

Welcome to the forum

Go to 98 octane. Even though its a bit more expensive, it equals it out in better mileage.

If u switch to 98 octane and the sound stops, then its most certainly pinging. I dont think ford can do much abt pinging than advising u to switch petrol.

If the sound doesnt stop with 98 octane, its something else and u can pester ur dealer to fix it. Switching petrol atleast would bring some clarity abt the prob.

And hey, once u go 98, U'll never wanna go back

Hey 1lifeliveit,
i will change to 98 once i use the last of this lot... I have a feeling it wont make a difference, but i'm open to anything.
If this doesnt work i'll go back to Ford..
Its just so silly that a new car can be such a pain in the bum!!
so many problems! :(

Thanks

Ford aren't that bad, they fixed my seat and wheel bearing last week, they done a top job at it too.

I was quite impressed after hearing all the negative stuff that is said about them.

I went to Peter Warren in Warwick Farm, the one with the Imitation Harbour Bridge.

yer they are pretty good. the best thing i find is to get on the good side and on mates terms with the ppl at ford. that way they dont screw around with you and they take care of you. like the guy i have befriended at macarthur Ford. when ever i need something i just go to him and he organises it all and takes care of what i want. not to mention i feel safe having my car there cause i know if the guys that are doing the service Screw around with it or sumthing he'll come down on them like a ton of bricks. so yer.
