The economic damage being caused by the COVID19 paranoia is frightening.

UK is no longer part of the EU and therefore is treated like every other outside / third country,
the EU doesn’t need UK vehicle production so now getting harder to justify local production. |

Honda in Swindon has now shut its doors.Civic was their biggest success, exporting a huge amount to Europe(We also received the ‘Type R’,which will now be manufactured in Japan, but I believe ours will come from Honda Nth America)Brexit was part of the problem as well as Covid playing a part. But,Honda announced this in 2019.This really only leaves Nissan @ Sunderland, which is where we draw our Qashqai,Leaf & Juke.Infinity is also manufactured there.Nissan has not made much noise of late regarding the fate of the plant. They did mention it a few years ago when Brexit started. This really only leaves the Mini manufacturing complex @ Oxford,Rolls & Bentley @ Crewe.JLR @ Birmingham & Solihull.None of these I suspect will pack up any time soon.June saw UK car sales up by 28%.

Lots of development going on for battery production for JLR, government backed (2010 white paper recommended backing industry). They are cutting stuff elsewhere (new XJ) and pivoting to this. Coventry to be the battery site iirc. BMW still has engine plant for mini as well.
Next Disco model is apparently joining the Defender in Romania.
