Kinda a pretty lame post but the smile this thing put on my face was unreal. Yes sorry to all of you but it was a holden Senator Signiture (only a crappy auto at that). All i can say is this I really want to put a V8 in my wagon asap.
It managed to chirp the tyres going from 1st to 2nd. Had me wanting more and more and more. Not too sure but suspect it may not be stock. I hope my wagon will one day do the same.

Lol to all of you. Don't get me wrong i am ford through and through and always will be. Love the turbos but love the V8's even more. The sound they make is just unbeatable on any level. and performance to go with it. That was my first taste and judging by how much i liked it i think i will have to make sure whatever i end up with. It MUST have more go than that becuase i think i would get bored with that after a while.

Mine was when I went for a ride in a mates VC Valiant ute. It has a 526ci all alloy Indy Maxx Hemi, custom headers with 2.5" primaries, heading into a twin 4" exhaust. Has 900rwhp NA, ran an 11.01@122mph wheelspinning past the 660ft marker and backing off before full track.

My first experience in a fast car was a warm WRX when I was about 14, driven by a highly respectable multi time Australian champion car drivers wife, at about 210km/h on some backroads somewhere in NSW. Mr. Champion was vomitting out the window at the time, and Vomit, plus 210+km/h is extremely messy (think passenger door to drivers door, and back covering the roof, and the complete interior).
Then my next one was a stroked XD, was unreal. But the one that takes the cake, is a friends Big Single R32 GTR. Anything that slides 4 x 275 tyres in second gear coming onto boost, I have huge respect for. Good for 10's, I have no idea How he drove the thing, as I couldnt keep my head looking forward, as Id get slammed back and my head would be staring at the roof.

Mine was when I was about 12 and my dads mate took me in his 1968 427 4 spd Corvette, good for about 450hp he reckons. Pretty unreal at the time.
10 years later I bought a 1000cc sports bike and now every car seems slow. |

Yeah the old 318 hemi with a bit of money will scare the crap outta ya, especially with a serious lack of weight in the *** (VH Charger)
Although even the 265 was a handful at that

My first taste of serious horsepower was a 400hp XR Fairmont wagon. 351 Cleveland, Bullnosed Toploader, and beefy nine inch. I would have been 13 and my cousin in law took me out sliding around narrow rural backstreets late at nite. May not have been legal, but damn that was fun. I wanted that car for pretty much the next year.

V8s are good. they sound good and go well stock but when upgrading performance the mods can be VERY expensive or the gains are small.
(in comparison to an XR6T) my first drive of a serious car was a mates VL with 300rwkw manual with a 9" and detroit locker!! no traction in 1st with boost and 2nd was useless... but man it hooked up in 3rd and just flew!!!! (that was 6-7 years ago now and have not even come close to it again) Last edited by RESPEC6; 21-04-2010 at 10:23 PM. |

lol a holden senator is not a serious car man, and chriping gears on an auto with a 3.00 to 1 first gear compared to a ford 2.39 first, isn't no where near as hard.

A mate of mine has a stock as a rock VZ Senator, it hits HARD changing to second and spins into second...
I've commented a few times my amazement with how hard the thing bashes gears for a stock lawn-bowls-mobile.

As far as I am concerned, any car which can cut the 1/4 in around 13sec is a quick machine. Especially for the relatively little money that we pay for performance like that these days.
I've always been impressed when a car can cut times like that and be driven all day every day and carry it's passengers in luxury. I have driven a few LS2 HSV's, and I don't care what anyone says, there are seriously quick cars right off the showroom floor. (whether an F6 whips it is neither here nor there). |

Most crazy car I've been in? The Gemini coupe V8 my mates built. Holden 5litre, bugger all weight, myself and two others in the car where leaving the horsepower heroes show at wayville, sam flattenned it as he came side on with a monaro cv8, left the monaro for dead as it slid sideways up Anzac highway then hooked up...left a big grin on my face all the way home..scared the bollocks off the monaro driver though!!
Monty v8(Phil) and Mikes' coupes are both a handful too. But the fastest vehicle? My workmates fathers ducati . I threw up after I got off the bike. Too much speed. But the bikes good for 10 second qtrs!

Mine would have to be a V8 Supercar round the paperclip..that thing was incredible, the acceleration and braking..just thinking about it makes me wet myself (the good kind lol) other than that I've been for a ride in FAT GTR..a 675hp GTR that thing hooks..the boost..just wow.
