Default Has anyone had their mag wheels repaired?

Unfortunately 2 of my mags are damaged, one was my fault and the other wasn't. Anyway, tyres will be due fairly soon and I was hoping to get the rims repaired while the tyres are off.

Who repairs them? Will any tyre shop do repairs or only a select few? What is the cost involved? Would it depend on the extent of the damage? How good was the the repair? Was it noticable?

I have BA XR 18 non genuine wheels. They look very similar to the originals, and I beleive they have clear coat so they can't just be touched up? If the cost is prohibitive, or the repair quality isn't worth the effort, I will just live with them damaged, or maybe get two replacements.

Adeliade Wheel And Rim Works are the only guys in SA that repair rims.

I was going to repair my imported rims and was quoted approx $165 per rim.

My friend repaired his Charger rims and you can't the difference, quality was excellent.

Click on name for their website.

Cheers

Well mine can't be resprayed as they're polished not painted and I beleive they have a clear coat layer on top.

I was quoted $130 to have my rim repaired and it has pretty nasty gutter rash. Wheel is a genuine 17inch BA MK11 XR rim.
Picture of how nasty the gutter rash is:

Never got around to fixing the wheel though.

Not true, they have yours machined and then the whole lot is clear coated again.

I used to work for a spray shop that used to, and still specialises in wheel repairs and repainting, and are a supported repairer of most wheels on the market such as lenso and simmons. Meaning that they actually have the official paint codes of such wheels including the "shadow chrome" colour.
The shop is called A1 Hytech Automotive and repair services, they are in Moorebank near Liverpool.
The quality is excellent, and a repaint is around $45-$60 each, and repairs depend on the type of repair. I had one of mine done after I left, and it cost me $120 all up, which was a weld, machine and paint job.

Hope this helps.

Exclamation Has anyone had their mag wheels repaired?

I feel sorry for those of you who have had arguments with gutters, me too. I found a company that I would honestly recommend to anyone in Sydney who needs their rims repaired (painted or clear coat).

The company name is "All Mag Wheel Repairs" in Ingleburn NSW. The guy, name is Milano is absolutely perfect in restoring wheels that have any sort of damage done to them. I recently had some work done to two rims that had some damage and they look brand new. I am fussy about my car so I would not recommend this guy unless he was good.

Scuderia Veloce Motors a very high class car dealer in Sydney use him for repairing rims on Porsches and other highend cars.
