Default Capri Perana

Hi all trying to register the Perana and have some stumbling blocks. The car had no rear seat belts so the guy doing my blue slip made me put some in, I did that and took it back. Then he said that the normal top shelf mounting points were wrong and would strangle you in an accident of which I told him they are the original placing. He then insisted I would need an engineer to certify that.
So I called an engineer recommended by him waited a week and a half he came and reckons the mounting point at the wheel arches is wrong, he is happy with the top shelf mounting points but says the wheel arch points are not correct but to me they look like their 40 years old. So can anyone tell me where they should be and even send me a picture of the mount from inside the wheel arch as he wants me to either drill new holes and weld or glue fresh thick plates or grind off the 7,16 stud mount a plate and reinstall the stud. When I put the seat belt in it goes through the back seat rest bottom support through the chassis and into the 7,16 mounting bolt which I am sure is original.
You can imagine that I don't want to start hacking the car apart unnecessarily, any help would be much appreciated. Keith

The plate and nut is visible from outside the wheel arch in front of the wheel. Its the factory position.

Thanks for that I will check it out all is original but will have to take a picture of another Capri to prove it to the engineer. Problem is if he comes out and doesn't agree will have to pay more for him to come out again or do what he asks which is butchery. Keith

The seat belt mounts are at the base of the wheel arch. The rear seat is secured using it. I have a cut up shell at home. I'll take some pictures and post them here next week. PM if I forget.
Cheers Glenn

These are the normal factory position mounting points - parcel shelf and wheel arch as per whooligan.....since 1969.
Early cars may not have had belts fitted to the rear, but the mounting points were there.

Send me your email and I'll send you some pages from the FordOZ manual (with a pic!!) showing wheel arch mounting point.

more pics taken this evening (very cold and dark outside here !!!)

With yours being a Suid Afrique Perana, looks like the mounts were not put in at the factory? Or someone has removed the plates somewhere along the way.

Appears you only have a thread thru 2 layers of sheet metal - justifable cause for concern. Clean some of that gunk off and see if there is a decent thick plate (3mm?) hiding underneath. You might only need to add a captive nut i.e. weld one on.

(finally worked out this thumbnails stuff....)
