Default PC Stuff: Asking for Internet Access

Ok, its dirving me nuts. When programs ask you to establish a connection to the Internet, you know how they either bring up the dialup window or a box asking which conncetion to use - is there any way to stop this from happening?

I have ZoneAlarm pro too if thats any good.

I have IE but primarily using Firefox (IE still installed).

The main offenders seem to be Messenger (pretty sure thats what sqm.msn.com is, cos its what keeps asking for the connection), and occasionally P2P (Limewire), although i know how to fix that one.

Messenger has a setting in the options, "Run when Windows Starts"

Deselect that.

That should fix your problem....regardless of if you use IE or not (remember, IE is part of the shell these days..)
