Cool Recommend service centre in Adelaide

Hi all,
So I get my 2010 Mondeo MC Diesel in a couple of days.
I haven't owned a ford and I'm looking for suggestions to get it serviced?

Out of the dealers it would probably be Adrian Brien St Mary's or Stillwell Medindie.

However I'm used to dealing with individual mechanics (just a couple of guys working together) and of course Mondeo & Focus are not typical fords, so suggestions for an indie are welcome too.

I've read this thread and realise experiences vary widely, but am interested in everyone's view.

Thanks in advance...

Well, as it's out of warranty, I'm thinking that the only "advantage" of dealership servicing is that you will (should?) get the various changes and updates automatically.

My feeling is that if you have a trusted mechanic and that person is happy to do the servicing on the car then stick with them.

An occasional visit to a dealership would take care of the in lifetime upgrades.

We use a dealership but that is because we have an extended warranty on our Mondeo and we don't want arguments about whether or not something should be covered because of non dealership servicing.

I can't make any comment about Adelaide Dealerships as we have not lived there for a number of years. But if you want a private comment then PM me.

Cheers

Thanks for your considered contribution Alan.

The trouble with the other mechanics I have used is they are specialists their fields of just 1 or 2 car makes.

I'd love to find someone like that who concentrates on Ford or even more specifically Mondeo.

It seems even the dealer service centres these days cater to multiple brands!

Its hard to decide where to go isn't it.
I don't exactly trust dealers as on 2 occasions in recent years I have bought cars where they have stamped the latest service to find nothing was actually done.
I would happily use a local mechanic for the minor service as there's not much to it.
I'm a bit concerned about the major service every 60k though as it includes the Powershift transmission service. It's hard to know if a generic mechanic knows enough about the tranny to service it correctly. If the incorrect or a cheaper fluid is used the results could end up expensive in the long run.
But if you have a local mechanic who you know you can trust to do the right thing I would take them over a dealer any day.
You could always take a hybrid approach and get the minor services done at a mechanic and the major done at the dealer as it would only be every 3 yr or 60k. Then they can do software updates too.

Depending on where you live Deo, I have a mechanic who has a workshop in St Marys and I live in Huntfield Heights. He's a trusted guy I have been going to for over 10 years with all of my cars and he specializes in Fords and Subaru's. If you are interested, hit me up with a PM.

This is a good point, my non-ford guys have all proprietary tools for diagnostics for their particular brands but I'm not sure about software updates - none of my other cars have been so heavily dependent on software! .

Yeah I called in there the other day. They are renovating and I wasn't clear - do they have separate teams for servicing the different brands or is it all just one big workshop??

Thanks for the suggestions guys keep them coming!

Exclamation Re: Recommend indie mechanic or service centre in Adelaide

Hi all, just bumping this thread because I will book a service within the next week.

I have at two good leads on indies now, so I am leaning towards giving my business to a small operator over the next 5-10 years.

Cheers
