Are the modern day Jags reliable?
I'm talking specifically the XE's and XF's of 2014 to 2016. And if anyone has driven these 4 cylinder turbos, what are they like? I am aware that the petrol engine is basically the Ecoboost engine, but seeing how it goes in an 8 speed and the aluminium chassis.... Comments appreciated. |

I won't comment on the current range but the old XJS V12 was a nightmare.
Wonderful thing to drive but a small sparrow piddling on the tarmac from a great height was enough moisture to stop it. No doubt that was a particular problem but I still remember it vividly as it was the boss's car and he relied on me to keep it up to scratch. Always heard about in no uncertain manner when it let him down but he wouldn't pay the few extra [ actually a lot extra ] to take it to the Jaguar mechanics. |

A mate worked for a dealer group that sold BMW, Jaguar and Volvo for 8 years, he left about 10 years ago the Jags had the least warranty claims. |

Jags have been consistently near the top of the JD Power quality survey lists in the US for the last 5 years or so.

Cant speak for the 4cyl but I had a 2010 XFR and it was the most reliable and best car I have owned. Traded it on a BMW 550i, miss the Jag everyday.

Cant comment on the exact model's in question, but my Brother in law bought an F-Type convertible 18 months ago (V6 S model) and its been nothing but reliable and extremely well built the time he has had it...
Unrelated but I took it for a decent drive and My GOD they are an experience with the Noise, etc....

The best thing for me and why I would have a Jaguar XE over the others is that besides looking gorgeous, its NOT a BMW, Audi or Mercedes.
The allure of those brands used to be the relative exclusivity. However with those brands pushy further and further pushing down market, it seems if "everybody" has one then what makes them special? The Jaguar, any Jaguar for that matter, just seems (to my eyes) a more exclusive brand and for similar prices to the German rivals it competes with.

I'll be having a serious look at the F Pace when it launches, looks to be a pretty good thing on the spec sheet.

Jag XE and F-Pace looking extremely good.
Let's see, where are us dinosaurs gonna get our RWD-AWD, engaging handling, north-south mounted engine fix, complete with V8/6/4T, when the Falcon and Terry are gone? I wonder... (the Aluminium construction and gorgeous styling are a total bonus)
